"There is a plastic gear inside the locking mechanism that commonly breaks or loses teeth and causes this issue. The only solution is replacing the lock."
There is a replacement gear now available through eBay for the ZE1.

I havn't had the need to buy...
You really need Leaf Spy Pro loaded on your phone, plus a dongle, depending on your phone type ie Android or Ios.
You can then interrogate all the fault codes.
You may even be able to delete the offending code & enable it to be driven again.
Once you have all the codes it may be more obvious...
" The car worked fine for a while after the relay replacement. (Now it has more problems, but the relays are still OK.) "
The contactors you have replaced are only supposed to operate when little current is flowing in the circuit.
Perhaps the ongoing problems with the car are causing the...
A very interesting & useful post.
Just goes to reinforce the absolute necessity to remove the HV disconnect before doing any work on any component of the HV system.
I'm guessing that one contactor's contacts became welded together followed shortly by the second one when it had all the load to...
It sounds like you have some wear in either one or more suspension/ steering ball joint, or in one or both front wishbones that have 2 rubber bushes each.
You need to get the car up on axle stands at the front, then check each joint/ bush by push/ pulling the tyre or getting a steel lever in...
I had a 2016 30kwh Leaf that I sold around 6 months ago.
It had around 56% Hx when I sold it.
The person buying it lived 170 miles ( 272Km ) away & I agreed to deliver it for him.
Drove at around 55mph & just charged once from about 25% back up to 98% around half way there, arrived with about...
As has been stated by others, DC charging is much simpler than AC charging as far as the car is concerned.
The logic board in the PDM communicates between the car & DC charger to set the power to be delivered by the DC charger.
When the car is happy with that communication it closes the two...
As well as the possible 12v battery problem, it might also be an indication of water getting into the car.
People have had similar problems when water has got into the wiring or an electrical connector.
Also some of the electrical modules behind the dash & glovebox have filled with water due to...
" Acts like it’s going to charge then all the lights go out. "
Has your brother tried pressing the charge timer disable button to the right of the steering wheel. The button has a clock with a cable & line through it.
Just in case he has the charge timer set.
According to your diagram it's connected to the + terminal of cell 49 via the bus bar, while 110 connects to the - terminal of cell 49.
I would guess it's needed to monitor cell 49, so would assume it's pretty essential.
Have a read through this post.
His looks to be a later model, but it might give you some pointers.

I have found the GOM to be pretty accurate so far.
On my way home from collecting the Leaf I topped up on the motorway to 93% which gave me a certain GOM range.
The journey home from top up ( about 77 miles ) deducted exactly that from the range.
I was cruising between 55 & 60 MPH, which would...
Sorry this reply is a bit late, but i've only just joined this forum & seen your post.
I'm also in the UK but having owned the Leaf for just over a week, am certainly no expert.
This is the type of cable you need :-

Might be that the locking mechanism lacks some lubrication & is sticking.
Try spraying some liquid grease in to the mechanism then working it closed/ open a few times.
The mechanism is very open to all the weather being located where it is.
I had a similar thing with my sons bonnet release...
