Thank you for the suggestion. Since my Leaf was totaled, and I needed a car fast, I replaced it with a 2015 Fiat 500e off lease for $8000 with only 21k miles on it. Still under warranty until 40k AND it is getting 101 miles on a full charge. There doesn't seem to be any battery degradation...
When I took the Leaf into the dealer three weeks ago for a clicking sound, I asked the service adviser if there was a recall for brakes like software upgrade and the adviser said no...even when I told him that my brake light would come and surge forward while my foot was on the pedal...so no...
My insurance company is Esurance. Luckily I had GAP that paid off my loan but Esurance claims said they are not going to pursue the brake failure. I showed the CHP officer who took the report a copy of my dealer diagnostic service and the officer checked the box "mechanical malfunction" for me.
Has anyone had or heard of the Leaf having brake failure? A couple of weeks ago, the brake warning light on my dash would come on intermittently and when I put the car in D with my foot on the brake pedal, the car would still lunge forward.
I took it in to my dealer who said there was no...
Hey Rocky, what is your diesel car? I bought a 2013 VW Passat TDI new as my long distance car and if you've been following along, I'll be selling it back to VW. It's a shame though - I have been able to get 50+mpg and go 650+ miles. The replacement long distance car will probably be either...
Thank you for your help. I did notice a large black module that was labeled HORN. It is 15A and looks too big to be a fuse unless it is a combination relay/fuse. I am having it tested. The other 10A fuses checked out okay.
Hi forum members,
Does anyone know where the horn fuse is located? I checked the panel on the inside by the driver's door and the box under the hood behind the battery. None of the diagram shows FUSE. I upgraded my stock horn to a WOLO Big Bad Max which sounds like a semi truck! It worked...

I also starting monitoring my Gids and SOC% with Leafspy Pro. Even at VLBW with no miles left on the GOM, my Gids and SOC% were 16 and 9.1%. I am still...
Arnis, thank you for your advice. I am QC twice a day, not by choice, but by necessity, so that I can effectively commute with my Leaf. My one way trip is over 50 miles so I QC around 45 miles going. Then I QC around 45 miles coming back the other way.
Could elaborate on your statement "If...
I am on a concentrated quest to "condition" my battery to the point it is replaced under Nissan's warranty. This post will serve as blog for my activities and progress. Maybe this info will help the next person on their path to success.
Here are the beginning stats:
2012 Nissan Leaf SL...
My 2012 Leaf SL has 29,388 miles on it with 10 bars. I lost bar 11 around 28,000 miles. I have been driving it hard and QC at least twice a day. Not by choice but necessity. Even when the range says 72, I actually only get about 50 miles out of it and my daily commute is 100+ roundtrip so I...
Hi Tungsten,
Thank you for your advice. I do not know the original in-service date but I'll find out. I did get a car fax report so I'll start there and progress to the dealer. I might have to go live in Phoenix for the rest of 2016! hahaha
Thanks for your response. I plan on driving my Leaf 20k+ miles between now and the end of 2016. In its current state, the battery will only give me at most 60 miles IF I stay off the freeway. With freeway driving, 45 miles tops. SO, I have almost 15 months AND 38,000 miles to get down to bar...
