If I tell the car we need to go to Ohio to see the grand kids, the car will know we need the REx to come on at 80%, and where we will need to refuel, and where we will need to plug in during lunch. Simple calculations for a computer.
I used the website and picked "Kentucky" The website replied with $0.02 for the eGallon. That can't be correct, my calculations have placed it closer to $.080 for a eGallon (@ Prius MPG equivalent)
I disagree with this statement 100%. Inept government in California forces poor REx design on the rest of us. Instead of taking your shiny new i3 with it's range augmentation, you take your camper tow vehicle that gets 18 mpg on a 200 mile trip. Forced on you because the government wants to...
Another fine example of our inept government at work. Perhaps someone will hack the REx i3 to "fix" the California imposed limitations. It really can't be that difficult.
Having full control of the REx would be optimal. If you know you are on a long journey with little option to pick up a charge, you might want the ICE to kick in at 80% SOC, not 20%. You might want it to run in order to charge the battery when you are having a meal, and you might want it to run...
I like this idea. Omit the rear seat, lower the car, increase battery capacity, and add the option of a small range extender. Basically an i3 at a Nissan price.
I'd never use an e-bike for a commute. I want to live to enjoy my retirement. If I had a short commute, I'd pick up a Leaf with short range if it were cheap. Our commute would be easy with a 50% battery, and the new the 6.6Kw charger would be nice for a quick charge to cover a 20 mile rt trip...
Haven't seen any QC installs in Kentucky, almost no L2 outside of car dealerships. There are several Leafs on the road though, we see them all the time. I think installing QCs in Kentucky would sell more Leafs, since there is little L2 infrastructure. It sounds like you have chargers...
Everybody knows that "I've read somewhere" always means "I remember reading about some topic but I don't remember the source, so it is likely that I never read it, or maybe it I just heard it from someone" It is so much better than "I read a peer reviewed study that states the following...
I still say "Lease a Car"" makes more sense. Why pull a 10 bar battery out of a car that needs twelve, and install it in a car with 8 bars that needs nine, and install the 8 bar battery into a car that has 6 but needs 7? Just swap cars. Do you know what would be really awesome? If Nissan...
Glad we are in a lease, and this is exactly why. We love the Leaf, but we are thinking an i3 with a range extender or the Caddy version of the Volt as a replacement. Hopefully Nissan will come out with a range extended EV and pamper the battery (with TMS even) so it lasts longer.
If this ends...
Exactly, I purchased our Leaf in Richmond KY, and sometimes need a charge in Frankfort or Lexington. The Lexington Nissan dealership is 10 miles from the house, and we drive right past it on our way home from visiting family in Midway or Frankfort. After hours the EVSE is accessible, but...
