1099 from the State of Hawaii for Electric car rebate

Due to time constraints my accountant filed my taxes with the Hawaii EV incentive rebate as income. She has stated that this isn't correct and the rebate, if anything, should be considered a price reduction, she doesn't quite understand the reasoning for calling this "income". After calling...

Dear Better Place Hawaii Members, I wanted to update you an important hearing tomorrow that will directly impact you and the cost of parking your EV. As you may recall, when I wrote to you last a few weeks back there were two bills being considered. The most important one to EV drivers...

As you may know, electric cars with an EV license plate park for free at all State and Municipal parking lots (e.g. Airport, Blaisdell, Zoo, Stadium, etc.) and all parking meters. SB2746 HD1 makes a number of changes to reduce the benefits of free parking; • Eliminates free parking for...

Hmmm, I think you're right. Although there was nothing on the EVSE to indicate it was charging and in fact, the message seemed to be looking to initiate the process, the one blinking light does indicate vehicle charging. Maybe it was a good thing I exercised restraint.

There was a car parked next to them otherwise I would have used the space next to them. And yes, I was aware of the EVSE at the Green Energy Outlet but at the time I was so steamed I wasn't thinking clearly. Next time I'll use the them. After snapping off their windshield wipers. Just...

Parking for the Judiciary Building behind Restaurant Row has a dedicated EV charging parking spot complete with credit card activated EVSE. EVs park free anywhere in the building, just as they do at all state and C&C buildings with over 100 parking spots. So last week I had a bunch of errands...

After a lot of consideration, I just got on Hawaiian Electric's TOU EV initiative. A great way to go for anyone that has an EV and solar panels, no up front expense whatsoever, HEI provides and installs the more sophisticated meters at no charge except for a $1.50 a month increase in meter...

Wow, great post. Thank you. I was thinking of going with a two meter setup but the savings don't justify the expense. I am installing a TED this afternoon to measure the various household loads including that of charging the car.

Ken Rockwell Photography Blog EV Rant

This bit about "major news networks who have the staff to research issues before going into print seldom get the facts straight" is a little goofy too. Makes me wonder where this guy gets his facts from.

Ken Rockwell Photography Blog EV Rant

Paying attention to the general themes in Rockwell's opinion, it appears he is a right wing nut, perhaps even a Tea Party loon. He touches on "big government", "socialism" and "using other people's money", all common subject matter for those looking to "defend" the Constitution against whatever...

Any idea of the cost of installing a two meter setup?

"FYI, state rebate for upgraded evse was denied because it is not UL certified." How about expenses to run a 240 line to the garage? Do those qualify?

I've got an upgraded EVSE and it works well. Feel free to contact me with any questions. [email protected]

Went around the island this morning, starting and ending in Kaneohe. Ended up with 22 miles left although it got down to 13 at the peak of the climb coming into the Wilson tunnel. Although we took very little freeway, the big range killer seems to be hills, first climbing out of Haleiwa for...
