Colorado makes EV tax rebate a rebate at point of purchase

Well, the article is in the Denver Post, so there is very little actual information. Sorry for the editorial comment, but that rag has fallen to about the reporting level of a high school newspaper. I looked at the actual bill, House Bill 16-1332, and it looks like they are ending the rebate...

Colorado makes EV tax rebate a rebate at point of purchase

http://www.denverpost.com/business/ci_29905113/new-way-buy-electric-cars-would-offer-5.html The good news for Nissan is that is sounds like the base model Leaf gets the full $5000 rebate starting next year. Prior to this bill, there was a formula based on KwH of the battery, now is sounds like...

Turned around at 20 miles to go get my ICE vehicle!

It sounds like you are experiencing the exact scenarios that kept me from getting a 2015 Leaf. I, too, live in CO, and I felt that the elevation changes combined with the crazy freeway speeds and conditions here would limit the use of the car for me, so I am waiting for the upgraded battery or...

    Buy a 2015 Leaf for $11000?

Well, after all of this research, I have decided not to get a Leaf, even for $11-12K after rebates. The deal-breaker is my wife's 66 mile round trip commute, with no nearby charging at her employment, and 3000 feet of elevation gain on the drive home. My commute is 38 miles round trip, and I...

    Recommended Denver-area dealer?

Stay away from the Larry Miller crime-family of dealerships in general. I am still on the fence about a Leaf here in CO. I talked with Nigel at Boulder Nissan and he is very knowledgeable, but I also received a PM from another member here who got a great deal at Valley Nissan in Longmont...

    Denver EZ Charge promo

In case someone sees this post - there has been a change to the "No Charge To Charge" program through EZ Charge: Chargepoint chargers in CO are no longer part of the program. EVgo chargers are the only ones that are free with the card. As far as I know, there are only seven of these in the...

    Buy a 2015 Leaf for $11000?

Will the steering wheel controls on an "S" work with Android through USB? That is the problem with my daughter's (old, aftermarket) stereo. It won't control an Android, and it doesn't charge through the USB port on the radio, either. It works with her IPod though.

    Buy a 2015 Leaf for $11000?

I'd rather have bluetooth streaming than a backup camera, but I guess I can always do what my daughter does - she bought a bluetooth speaker and she sets it on the console between the seats to listen to audio books from her phone. It sounds fine.

    Buy a 2015 Leaf for $11000?

Not that I am overanalyzing this or anything.... In a 2015 Leaf "S", the stereo is a standard double-din unit, correct? So I can replace it with an aftermarket unit that has bluetooth streaming/Pandora/whatever and I will not lose any functionality in the other electronics in the car? I'm...

Is the "plug-in" era nearly over?

The GM EV1 was actually "wireless" charging, in that there was no actual metal-to-metal connection. You had to insert the "paddle" in the slot, but the charging was inductive. How far we've come since then. Not.

    Buy a 2015 Leaf for $11000?

I just went and looked at the ez-charge website. I can't find *any* indication on there that Chargepoint is no longer part of the "no-charge-to-charge" program. The only other network on the website that is in Colorado is nrg EVgo, with a grand total of seven chargers in CO, although a couple...

    Buy a 2015 Leaf for $11000?

That's a bit of a bummer about Chargepoint not participating in that program. The charger at my office is a Chargepoint and I would definitely need to use it occasionally. Question then: what kind of charge rate does an L2 charger have? I have read that 110V is 3-4 miles of range per hour...

    Buy a 2015 Leaf for $11000?

Here is the deal. The car would be garaged at home, so I can preheat anyway. My drive is 25 minutes. Colorado is painfully sunny most of the time, so while it is out in the parking lot at work, it will warm up by afternoon, and if it doesn't, there is a charger right outside the office door...

    Buy a 2015 Leaf for $11000?

Running the numbers including my unincorporated area sales tax and the ridiculous Colorado license plates (I'm taking a swag and saying $650, does anyone know for sure?), it looks like my total net including tax credits would be $12345! Cute. I am assuming I would get the 0% financing and the...
