    100 Mile Club, 200 km, 300 km, 200 Mile Club (24kWh LEAF)

Thanks, RWatkins for tips about keeping heat with aluminum blanket, etc. Just trying to answer your question. There are many people here who can share tips about how to maximize your range. But, for whatever it's worth, I will share what I think. Try to go slow and try to smooth out...

    100 Mile Club, 200 km, 300 km, 200 Mile Club (24kWh LEAF)

I just got 102.6 miles on 100% charge yesterday, 20th november, 2012. This was done over 3 days of driving starting on 18th november. This was partly on freeway and partly on city streets / expressways. On freeway I stayed in right lane mostly with cruise control at 56 mph and sometimes going at...

LEAFing up to 4000 feet mountain and back without recharge!

It is not just the sound of combustion engine! Also, breaks getting hot from too much pushing with ICE. It is very nice that in ECO mode LEAF does some amount of breaking for you.

200 miles one day trip in Bay Area for $1 !!

cwerdna, nice to know that you are considering getting Leaf to replace your Prius. I have been driving Leaf as my primary car for 14 months and put 17k miles on it. I highly recommend Leaf (or other all electric cars) based on my experience and I know former Prius owners who switched to Leaf and...

200 miles one day trip in Bay Area for $1 !!

Last weekend, I made my longest LEAF trip in one day - 201 miles. Longest leg without charging was 80 miles from Los Gatos, CA to Vallejo (about 15 miles away from Napa, CA) with 2 stops in the middle at Berkeley. When I arrived at Vallejo Nissan I had about 15 miles left on dashboard range. I...

Los Altos to Monterey and Back

I have made many trips from Los Gatos to Monterey and back in the same day. I leave with full charge and then when I reach Monterey, I am down to about 20 miles range on GOM and 2-3 bars. I leave my car plugged in at Monterey on Level 2 and go to the beach etc. In 4-5 hours I reach full charge...

Are you a net producer or consumer of electricity?

No, they haven't given me any solar report. Usually, whenever I call up a solar company they take my address and look up in satelite view / maps and then they tell me several trees are blocking southern exposure. Then they tell me that unless I cut down the trees it won't make sense. But, I have...

World Energy Use - There's No Tomorrow - Let's Fix This!

AndyH thank you so much for sharing this great resource!! :-) I didn't even know it existed because there is no billion dollar marketing machine behind things like this! In fact, there are tons of billion dollar marketing machines designed to completely block this kind of messages! I just...

Are you a net producer or consumer of electricity?

Did you consider E9A rate? I am on E9A and it has similar 30c peak rate but at night when most of EV charging happens, rate is super low 4 cents / kwh.

Are you a net producer or consumer of electricity?

By the way, where abouts in Alameda county are you? I might have to bring my LEAF to charge from your solar some time! :-) I live in Los Gatos and often have to make roundtrips around the bay (Los Gatos -> SF -> Oakland -> San Jose -> LG, etc.) and I can make these trips in a day with little bit...

Are you a net producer or consumer of electricity?

Sorry, a little confused from reading your reply. So, if you are a net producer, do they give you a credit to carry forward to next year (as you said next year EVs can charge for free at your house) or at the end of the year they will cut you a check for your excess production (minus...

Are you a net producer or consumer of electricity?

I agree with you. Passive heating / cooling is the best option. But, heat pump is very highly efficient option if active heating is unavoidable.
