Haven't had a chance yet, sorry.

    Post Your Battery Degradation Results

Do you regularly charge the vehicle over 80%? From what I've read, high temps + high state of charge is a primary cause of accelerated degradation. Batteries that are kept between 20-80% get many more cycles than those that are used 10-100%.

2016-2017 model year 30 kWh bar losers and capacity losses

You live in Phoenix? So the vehicle gets hot a lot, which degrades the battery faster. As well, if you're charging above 80% regularly, it will degrade a lot faster, regardless of whether it's a fast charge or not. High temps + high state of charge is what mostly degrades batteries, which is...

2016-2017 model year 30 kWh bar losers and capacity losses

I've noticed it with my 2017. Reprogramming changed it from SOH 88% to 95%, and 100% SOC went from ~24.6 kwh to 26.4 kwh according to Leafspy.

    2018 Leaf Trailer Hitch

Thanks. I'll double check with the dealer, since mine's a lease. I have been adding up the weights on my expected loads in the meantime though. Pretty sure I can keep it under 200lbs on the carrier, but getting a lightweight aluminum carrier will make a difference.

    2018 Leaf Trailer Hitch

Let us know what you decide to do @kennethbokor and if you find any good prices on those hitches. I'm thinking about trying a Hitch mounted cargo carrier on my 2017, but mine's a lease, so I want to confirm with the dealer that I'm not voiding the warranty.

    2018 Leaf Trailer Hitch

I found this line in the Nissan Canada's LEaf Warranty guide, under the "What is not covered" section: " Misuse, such as overloading, using the vehicle to tow, driving over curbs, or using the vehicle as a power source." I don't think towing is allowed either, but I'm curious as to whether I...

Please post your latest June 2018 30kWh battery software upgrade feedback here

When I got the ODBII connector and Leaf Spy, it was December, and it had 2500km on the odometer. SOH in LeafSpy was 86%. It was the same in April at 5500km. Full charge was 24.3kwh. I did a recalibration (drain to turtle, then charge to 100%) and this bumped SOH to 88%. After the software...

2016-2017 model year 30 kWh bar losers and capacity losses

Thanks for the update. My 2017 Leaf S just got the software update. I've had it since September 2017. It went from SOH 86% in the winter at 2500km, when I first got LeafSpy, to SOH 89% in the spring after recalibrating (running down to turtle, then charging to 100%), to SOH 95% after getting...

2016-2017 model year 30 kWh bar losers and capacity losses

How often do you charge above 80%? theres been speculation that the 30 kwh version degrades because its charged over 80% more often, as well as heat. i got leafspy at 2500km, and it showed 86% SOH, but it was cold in december. recently ran it to turtle, then charged to 100%. soh is now 88%, at...

Is SOH in Leaf Spy affected by temperature? (Mine seems low)

According to that chart that has the LeafSpy SOH ratings for 30kwh Leafs degrading like an earth bound rocket, my Leaf is an outlier on the low end. I first got LeafSpy at 2500km/4 months, and it already showed SOH at 86%. It stayed at 86% all winter, reinforcing what Amis said above...

Ok, thanks Amis. Will post my attempt at recalibrating the BMS below.

Is SOH in Leaf Spy affected by temperature? (Mine seems low)

thanks for the replies. so what you're saying @ElectricEddy is that the SOH reading is affected by the temperature, and the battery's history. Which means that when the temps warm up, the SOH reading might go up again? Basically, the batteries lose capacity when they get cold, and that's what...

Is SOH in Leaf Spy affected by temperature? (Mine seems low)

This thread seems to indicate it is temperature dependent. I'll have to check again a few more times over the winter, and again in the spring when it warms up. Also, another factor might be that I haven't discharged the battery very much. I usually plug it back in with 50% SOC, and have only...
