Leaf won't operate. Warning - Service EV System, Warning - Service EV System Unable to restart after power off

I had this happen twice with my 2021 SL+. First time, I had it towed to the dealer but they could not reproduce the problem. Second time, I drove it to the dealer without turning it off; they found a bad module in the HV battery which was replaced under warranty.

electric vehicles are less reliable than other cars and trucks, Consumer Reports

"as well as flaws in how the vehicles' body panels and interior parts fit together" Not all EVs come from Tesla.

    The 62kWh Battery Topic

The "trouble" is keeping my wife happy - someone who is totally uninterested in the the technical aspects of cars be they EV or ICE. It's my job to make sure she doesn't have to worry about range for her daily driving, just as I was responsible for filling the gas in her previous car. I don't...

    The 62kWh Battery Topic

When I first got my Leaf I took some trouble to mange the SOC, trying to stay in the 30-80% range. But for the past year or more I've just been waiting until the SOC drops below 40% and then charging to 100% - usually about twice a week. The car never stays at 100% for very long, and our...

What is your Average miles per kwh?

I average as low as 3.7 during the coldest months, and slightly over 5 in the summer. Almost all of our driving is on suburban streets under 50 mph.

How often do you drive without ECO?

I use ECO all the time. It still has enough pep for my driving style, so there is no reason to switch it off.

    Hotel / motel charging

If they exist, these outlets are probably there for another purpose. Do you want the gardener to unplug your EV when he needs to plug in a hedge-trimmer? If a hotel wants to provide L1 charging for customers, they would need dedicated circuits and outlets close to parking. At that point, it's...

    The 62kWh Battery Topic

I've notices that BMS updates to SOH, when they occur, usually take two or three days. I've also had basically flat SOH over the past 16 months. Doesn't look like Nissan will be doing many battery replacements under warranty for this generation of Leafs.

Ford Ditches CCS for Tesla Plug

Most of the non-Tesla networks let you pay with a credit card. Is that not a uniform payment system?

    New 2023 SV Plus impressions

OTOH, not having the Bose subwoofer gives you a clean floor in the trunk. Losing HomeLink would be a real bummer for me. I mean, really, how much would it have cost Nissan to include that, when SV+ is now their top trim on the Leaf.

    Hydrogen and FCEVs discussion thread

Yup. In order for hydrogen to have a future, we first need scalable sources of carbon-free hydrogen. The source referenced in the article (hydropower) is not scalable; the best sites already have dams on them. Hydrogen generated from fossil fuels would make even less sense; we'd be better...

Please help... I want to love my nissan Leaf

As Leftie said above you should go mostly by the battery SOC %, not the remaining range. The remaining range is just a projection based on recent efficiency and can be all over the map. Keep driving your Leaf (I assume you haven't had it long) and you will soon become comfortable with what its...

Living in Apartment Building - Charging questions

IMHO it would be fairer to bill for whichever is more expensive. You want a disincentive for folks using DC chargers to reach 100% SOC.
