IEVS: Consumer Reports Not Impressed By 2018 Nissan LEAF

I did turn cabin protection off in the past to see if there was any improvement and that helped, but even off there was a constant drain. However it is hot and during the day I do park outside at work. I do hear the coolant pump constantly running. I could park the Leaf outside for four weeks at...

IEVS: Consumer Reports Not Impressed By 2018 Nissan LEAF

The lack of TMS has meant degradation. However, my Model 3 sucks so much juice even when parked in its attempt to keep the battery cooled. Costs a lot more me a lot more in electricity than the Leaf. Pick your poison.

Yikes, degradation is looking bad (2018 Leaf)

Looks like our heatwave that we've been having is taking it's toll on the battery. I just went from 10% last month at 9000 miles to 13.7% loss and I am now at 10,500 miles.

Yikes, degradation is looking bad (2018 Leaf)

Well there is nothing that states that we are going to get new packs. In fact they are clear that their only contractual responsibility is to repair/replace what is necessary to get the SOH back above 30%. Even if I get new packs, at this rate I will be getting two new packs by the end of the...

I agree. SOH never went back up. Once it was gone, it was gone. Makes me wonder if AESC lost their buyer because they realized that that company is not making good batteries.

Just an update. Hmmmm, maybe I have a defective battery but now I’m down 10% at 9000 miles. It shows up in Leaf Spy as 90% SOH and based the fact that it takes less kWh to go from 50% to 100%.

Yikes, degradation is looking bad (2018 Leaf)

I use about 55% of the range per day/ per charge. There is a reason I'm already at 4500 miles after a few months of ownership ;) I charge at work so you can imagine that it becomes a bit bothersome to try to set a timer and then step out of meetings and across our campus. We do use the...

Yikes, degradation is looking bad (2018 Leaf)

I wouldn't agree that there is a consensus on this. Charging from to 100% heats up the packs. Heat=bad for battery longevity. This is based on whitepaper studies on Lithium Ion batteries. But I'm sure that there are always exceptions and these studies are now a decade old so maybe chemistry has...

Yikes, degradation is looking bad (2018 Leaf)

Trying to only charge to 80% everyday, which is a manual process since Nissan didn't include that feature) and then seeing degradation anyhow makes it not worth the effort. I'm just going to charge to 100% and let them deal with the warranty battery swap if it comes to that.

Charge to full everyday or don't charge to full unless for road trips. I'm not sure I'm following what you are recommending.

Yikes, degradation is looking bad (2018 Leaf)

No, that was the average over the entire trip. Not after charging. And I don’t use DCFC. The concern is that the battery didn’t even see high temps and already has degradation. If the delta is 12 degrees, imagine what it will be on a 95 degree day and over hot roads. Maybe it is too early...

Yikes, degradation is looking bad (2018 Leaf)

At 3000 miles, according to LeafSpy I’ve already lost 2.7%. It’s not even summer yet. Average temp of 70 degree ambient. Average battery temp 82 degrees. No DCFC. Usually charging to 80% with weekly 100% to cell balance and immediately driving so it doesn’t stay at hat high SOC.

    2018 Cargo Cover

It's a personal preference thing, but I've had over a dozen hatchbacks/wagons with those cargo covers. As of the last few years, I found that I prefer to just do limo tint on the back glass (when I tint the rest of the windows as well) and have done away with the cargo covers. I did the same...

    February 2018 EV sales

I doubt that numbers will be as great as the past model. More competition and they unmotivated to inflate the numbers with ridiculous deals, perhaps they can't since they held MSRP but they have a much more expensive battery now. It's a great car and they are hoping to move it based off of...

2018 SL Not Sending Data to NissanConnect

Your issue appears to be different than mine as they were able to resolve it without me having to do anything. I didn't have to take it into the dealer.
