Nissan LEAF / NissanConnect EV severe security vulnerability

So, a new version of the iOS app is now available. It seems to work, ie, I can check the status of my car, etc.

    An interesting read: http://www.troyhunt.com/2016/02/controlling-vehicle-features-of-nissan.html

    Powering down

Did the car remain in neutral after you stopped moving?

    2016 models in NC

I ended up leasing a '15 SV, the deals on the '16 models are just too high now, and my '13 SV lease would've been up soon. Mainly, the tires were barely at the limit, and I didn't want to spend money on those. So, off I drive into the sunset, with a new '15 SV black/black.

    2016 models in NC

Are there QC stations in Raleigh, besides at the Nissan dealerships? My '13 SV has just the level 2 charger, I didn't think QC would be worth having in this area (I'm also in Raleigh).

    2016 models in NC

Two year lease, 15.000 miles/year, $486/mo with $1500 due at signing. By comparison, my '13 SV was $212/mo with $900 due at signing, for the same terms.

    2016 models in NC

Looks like they're starting to trickle in, Jordan Nissan in Durham has a couple of '16 SVs. The lease deals are horrible compared to the 2013 models, though, I might just try to negotiate on a 2015 instead.

    Update to the iOS app

Interesting new update to the iOS app... Maybe for the Android also, but I have no way of checking. The new version presents a lot more data about your driving.

    2016 range test?

And on that note, I just checked with Leith Nissan (Apex, NC) and they don't have a delivery date, yet.

    End of lease buyout offer

So... what's the scoop on battery replacement costs? To muddle the waters a bit, the 2016 has, besides added range, a longer warranty period on the traction battery. I'll keep thinking about this, I don't have to pull the trigger any time soon. Thanks for the input so far.

    End of lease buyout offer

Lease is already up since March of this year, I extended it for 12 months until this coming March. 45,000 miles are included, I don't expect to go over that. I could turn it in any time now, until late March.

    End of lease buyout offer

The battery seems to be in excellent shape, I still have all the bars, and get about 80 miles per charge of largely city driving.

    End of lease buyout offer

For the 2013 SV that I'm leasing, which currently has 35,500 miles, the dealer is offering me a "deal" of $13,375 buy-out (plus state taxes, etc). The residual on the lease was $19,875, so it's a $6,500 discount on that. But it still seems like not a very good price. Feedback on this will be...

Asked Leith Nissan (Apex NC) about the 2016 delivery date this weekend

And I was told that they don't yet have delivery dates. Just a single datapoint, statistically insignificant.
