I doubt you'd keep the hatch door open too often for the battery drain to really matter, but it's a good idea to have the option to switch it off, just in case and all that. I'd think that you'd want to just leave it on though, in case you need it when it's darker so you don't have to go...

Thanks for all the hints on this guys. I was just looking at the comparisons and researching my way to a new car and this is extremely helpful when it comes to charging habits and determining how long "battery life" will really last for the car. I'll definitely be putting some of the links here...

I agree with Rowan Webb on this. A lot of people just are too inconsiderate and self centred when it comes to getting out of a car park lot sometimes. You know what would help with this problem? More chargers. I mean sure people can afford to be a little bit more considerate and share and all that, but if we had more of the infrastructure for charging up cars, we wouldn't have to worry about somebody taking a little too long at one station.

I personally don't think that you should buy a cheap car seat cover, and especially not something that's plastic based coz you don't want it to melt. Cloth would be a safer bet and I don't see why you shouldn't get a protective one. Maybe you could check with the guy who is selling the covers to...
