2016-2017 model year 30 kWh bar losers and capacity losses

I gave my Leaf back to Nissan for a reasonable early termination fee and got a Model 3 while the full tax credit is in effect. I never did drop my fourth bar, SOH was around 57% at the end. The Model 3 really is an awesome car - highly recommend it.

2016-2017 model year 30 kWh bar losers and capacity losses

Obviously I'm comparing to the original state of the car as delivered by Nissan and the condition it was operated under until a few months ago when conditions were changed. A before and after view of a four bar loser seemed like useful information to gather to me. If you don't have anything...

2016-2017 model year 30 kWh bar losers and capacity losses

Checking in. My rough timeline (I didn't track this very thoroughly): Sep-2017 - 79% SOH, one bar lost Dec-2017 - 72% SOH, still at one bar loss ... Didn't track / post, but lost bars two and three in this period ... Sep-2018 - 63% SOH, still at three bar loss Oct-2018 - 59% SOH, still at...

2016-2017 model year 30 kWh bar losers and capacity losses

Yes... and no. It should be covered under warranty but I don't think we've got any examples yet of people dropping their fourth bar after the BMS update so it's still a bit of a wildcard what exactly Nissan has changed. I just dropped down to 63% SOH and I'm anticipating losing the 4th bar...

    2016 30 kWh Battery data

I'm thinking it's more the elevation changes than the temperature in your case. I'm in Houston with 100+ temperatures and intense humidity and I could do 120 miles plus when brand new. Now I'm more like 80-90 with degradation. Haven't done BMS update yet. Car has actually been in the shop for...

    2016 30 kWh Battery data

Down to 72% SOH as of today compared to my last check in at 79% in September. Still haven't lost my second bar though. What a joke. Already starting to get tight on my 66 mile commute, especially as temps drop.

    2016 30 kWh Battery data

It looks like this might be the more comprehensive thread, so I'm cross-posting from here (sorry if that's a no-no): http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=23606&start=210 Another 2016 30 kWh owner checking in with rapid capacity loss compared to the 2013 model I had previously...

2016-2017 model year 30 kWh bar losers and capacity losses

Another 2016 30 kWh owner checking in with rapid capacity loss compared to the 2013 model I had previously. I'll add all my stats later, but I'm showing around 22.5 kWh usable capacity with SOH of 79% and Hx of 76%. When the car was new I could easily go 120-130 miles and now I'm down to about...

Are black cars more of a problem?

I've had a black Leaf for a little over 2.5 years living in the Houston, TX area. 100 degrees Fahrenheit is common in the summer, and summer is defined as roughly April through December :) I'd say I'm about as hard on the battery as possible. Charge to 100% every weekday. Discharge to 0-15%...
