Brake Fluid service at 1 year (10K miles) - yes or no?

I know it's an old thread, but I was at the dealer yesterday getting my battery test and recall services. The rep said that the Leaf brake fluid needs to be changed more frequently because it's used to lubricate the regenerative brake system. I thought that there were no moving parts in the...

You personally wouldn't get the checks? Or wouldn't skip them?

    Expanding EV charging in Yosemite

I want more EV charging everywhere. But keep in mind that the NPS wants there to be fewer cars in the Valley during peak season (summer). It's too crowded already. They want you to park your car and use the shuttles. I still think it's a good idea to have charging infrastructure (so Leaf-range...

Anyone skipped battery test but still got replacement under warranty?

Just wondering if anyone has skipped one or more of their annual battery tests but still had Nissan honor the battery warranty. Are they really necessary?

$8K for 2016 Nissan LEAF S - How Cheap Can These Go?

I assume this is for an S with no options (like the charging package). If so, it's pretty close to what I paid 2 years ago on my 15. My state tax credit was only $5k and the NMAC cash was only $3500. Add in the $1k (tax credit) + $2500 (NMAC cash difference) + $1700 (Charging package) and you...

    Georgia tax credit: Sell early?

No they don't. If you received the credit already, you can sell it.

L2 stopped working on 2 cars. EVSE or cars? What to do?

Would having a higher voltage would make the charging faster? The chargers are rated in terms of kW. But I assume that's at 240v. If the voltage is too high maybe they don't adjust the amperage draw downwards to balance out the increased voltage.

    200 km, 300 km, 200 Mile Club (30kWh LEAF)

I would guess that people who were super EV enthusiasts already have an EV that works for them and they weren't necessarily chomping at the bit to go out and buy a brand new car just to get a 25% increase in pack size. Especially with the 100% or 150% increases in pack size coming in the next...

L2 stopped working on 2 cars. EVSE or cars? What to do?

Fortunately I happened to have a multimeter at home. Pretty uncommon, but helpful here. Yeah, the outlet I plug my 240V EVSE into was registering 275Vac. Crazy.

L2 stopped working on 2 cars. EVSE or cars? What to do?

There were no error lights on either the Leafs or the EVSE. Long story short, I discovered the voltage coming into my house was 137Vac! 127 is considered too high and out of spec by electrical code. I guess the storm damaged the transformer. The power company came out and fixed the voltage...

L2 stopped working on 2 cars. EVSE or cars? What to do?

The L1 (120V Nissan EVSE) works for both. I'll try to find an available and working L2.

L2 stopped working on 2 cars. EVSE or cars? What to do?

I have 2 Leafs and a Clipper Creek 30A 7.2kW EVSE. Had them about 2 years, no problems. We had a big power outage during a thunderstorm. There was a very loud nearby thunderclap and then the power was out for 8 hours. I had Leaf #1 plugged in (not charging--on a timer for overnight) at the time...

Opinion: Uranium Prices Set To Double By 2018

I think this analysis is likely BS. Firstly, nuke plants are getting shuttered in the US because they are uneconomic. Secondly, it takes a really long time for nuke plants to come online. So if there are 100+ "planned" and 300+ "proposed" (whatever that means), if they ever do come online, they...

Setting up street charging solution next to my house

If you're laying something over the sidewalk, I would definitely get one of those bright yellow ramps. The EVSE cable is fat, so you'll need something heavy duty. And you don't want someone with a bike to ride over it or a person to step on it. And you definitely don't want someone to trip on it...

What is the 2016 Nissan Leaf battery cost?

Given that it's under warranty for 5/60k, hopefully you won't have to find out what a replacement costs for quite some time. But I would anticipate that the pricing for one today would be similar on a $/kWh basis as the 24kWh. Although, but the time you actually need to buy one, I would expect...

NissanConnect EV / Telematics Hardware Update, for the post-2G world

Maybe a dumb question, but since I have an S, this doesn't apply to me, right? I got the letters from Nissan too (and they know I have an S), so it made me wonder.

    Charging while Renting

You can probably get by on L1 if no 240V outlet is available. But there are quite a few public charging facilities around the Atlanta area if you need something faster. I've still never used one (I charge at home) but they are around.
