Sorry to bring up an old post, but it's happening to me now on my 2012 SL with 17k miles. I charge once at work at a 240 station, and then at home on 120. The smell is much worse from the 240v, so something is definitely not happy. Making me nervous. Is this a common problem?

I guess I'm lucky, I haven't heard mine rattle at all, but then again I've only had it for about a week. (15k miles.) I turned the heat all the way up to 90 and it seemed to be taking a very long time to heat up. I hope it's not a problem.

Just wondering if there is a "best practice" people have found for securing the L1 cable. Currently I have to plug it in to an outdoor outlet, and there is no way that I've found to actually secure it or lock it so no one can just walk up and take the entire thing. Thanks!
