2018 leaf analog speedometer . Whadayathink?

Got to drive the 2018 Leaf this weekend. I must say. Nice car.. (Now, I'm still OK with my decision to go for a Bolt, but that was right for me..) I really liked the dashboard driver's display, including the analog speedometer. Maybe it's the old geezer in me (get off my lawn!!!), but I really...

What is the solar Panel with the Leaf Good For?

I looked at it this way.. There have been a lot of reports of weird behavior on this forum where the answer was "12v battery!" I didn't have any of those issues with my Leaf. So I chose to believe that even if it was a minimal benefit, it did help avoid some issues. And as I traded in my Leaf...

Republican tax proposal will terminate $7,500 EV tax credit

I wonder if there will be a small rush of people who were going to wait for the 2018 Leaf in Jan (or to a smaller extent waiting for their Model 3) to buy the Bolt this year to qualify for the rebate? desiv

Someone unknown recharged his car and my EVgo account is charged

Yeah, cloning an RFID or similar device is possible.. I've seen it done during a pen test we had at work. Very kual stuff.. Fits in a briefcase.. Did you see someone with a briefcase walk by you when you were there?? ;-) Honestly tho, that's a lot of work to steal an EVGo charge ID.. ;-)...

    Chevrolet Bolt & Bolt EUV

This is Oregon, so that helps, but there are multiple Chevy Dealers with Bolts in stock here... (Mostly the Premium models, but some LTs also) Yeah, I was chatting with someone about the Leafs and she said that the Nissan dealer around here had 0 current Leafs in stock (not as much of a...

    Chevrolet Bolt & Bolt EUV

Well, I went and did it... I actually was deciding to not spend so much and started to sign up for the 2018 Leaf pre-order... Got all registered and went to the configuration page.. Now, I have a 120 mile round trip commute, so the 150 was probably OK, but close.. (especially in winter, etc)...

Hyundai Is Preparing for Big Electric Car Future, Even With Anemic Sales of Ioniq EV

I just wish they were more serious now.. Trying to decide what to do to replace my Leaf. My goal is a car that will do my commute to work and back on a charge. That's not the Ioniq.. It's the Bolt for sure.. Teslas (although I don't personally like the look. They are nice.. Just not my style)...

    when does DCQC cause degradation?

I wouldn't worry unless it's really hot.. I am now QCing 3 times a day for my commute (and a full L2 every night (well, work days)). I am down to 10 bars, but it's still expected per the degradation chart per age... 2012 Leaf with 75k+ miles so far... (I've owned it for 3 years; about 25k miles...

Finally 2018 nisan leaf 150mi range

They probably could, but with the price of the iPhone X, I'd expect that battery to cost $20k.. ;-) desiv

Leaf Gen 2 - New Nissan LEAF World Premier on Sep 5, 5:30 PM PDT

Yeah, I thought that was kind of silly.. I spent some time in Redding for a while in Shasta County, and there were some of the hottest days I'd ever spent... (I grew up in Los Angeles) Quick google shows: 10 All-Time Hottest Weather Temperature Days in Redding July 20, 1988 - 118 degrees June...

Leaf Gen 2 - New Nissan LEAF World Premier on Sep 5, 5:30 PM PDT

Bolt's are easily available on lots and in some areas dealers are discounting them. They aren't flying off the lots where they are.. ;-) I'm not saying anything bad about the Bolt, I'm counting on hopefully getting in on that myself.. ;-) I am not anti-Bolt.. But the fact is that they aren't...

Leaf Gen 2 - New Nissan LEAF World Premier on Sep 5, 5:30 PM PDT

I'm guessing there is some actual reason, probably involving size of the pack.. Yeah, they were showing a mule with a larger pack a while ago, but that doesn't mean there were able to get it to fit in the current design nicely... Might also be related to the type of batteries in the pack, and...

Leaf Gen 2 - New Nissan LEAF World Premier on Sep 5, 5:30 PM PDT

I agree.. A decent effort.. What I think it most important is price point.. They kept it lower, and I think that's probably most important to consumers.. People are finally getting used to some electric cars with decent range, but they are still a bit spendy.. Nissan kept the price down and...

LEAF 2 : What we know so far (2018 or later?)

Good to see that.. It's more than I expect from most car companies.. (Or more than I expect from most any large business for that matter.. Not much faith in anything beyond the letter of the law. ;-) ) desiv

I thought it was more that there was a capacity warranty as a result of the lawsuit settlement. Maybe just semantics.. ;-) desiv

LEAF 2 : What we know so far (2018 or later?)

+1 Same here.. I knew what I was getting into when I bought my Leaf used, and I'm still very happy with my "naivety and misfortune."   desiv

LEAF 2 : What we know so far (2018 or later?)

I don't think we'll see the SC network that Tesla runs open to other cars.. But for the sake of the discussion, a way around the issue of overcrowding might be time limits. You could say that each car gets 1 stop at a particular SC site per day (or every 4 hours, or something) and the max time...

LEAF 2 : What we know so far (2018 or later?)

I QC 3 times a day with my 2012 Leaf with mostly highway speeds (65). In the PNW tho, so it is at least cooler. Down 2 bars, but that's about right for the age of the battery.. desiv

LEAF 2 : What we know so far (2018 or later?)

While I agree that there is concern and a problem with the iRex, I never bought into this statement. <soapbox mode ON> If there is someone driving slow and someone gets frustrated and passes unsafely and causes a problem, it is ALWAYS the fault of the person who passed unsafely.. Always.. No...

LEAF 2 : What we know so far (2018 or later?)

For me, the math is on the edge.. I "need" 120 miles. That's my round trip commute. I told my wife I'd upgrade from my current Leaf (which I charge often now) when something affordable that can get me to work AND back was available. The Bolt can do that, although not sure I consider $40k...
