2018 first real world range test- disappointed a little

I am shocked the 2018 SL doesn’t have rear heated seats! My (recently totaled) 2015 S had rear heated seats. Guess Nissan got a little chincy this year. Other than that, I concur with others that your range was acceptable on this trip given weather conditions and speed, plus having a full car...

    2015: Battery Data Report @ 100% Charge

Well it appears my last update on battery stats will be my final one. Last weekend my daughter was rear-ended in the Leaf, totaling the vehicle. Thankfully, she was unharmed and walked away without a scratch. We found out Monday the adjuster decided it was a total loss and Friday I picked up a...

    2015: Battery Data Report @ 100% Charge

@ mrp10000 Good luck with that, I feel the same way. Actually I was hoping we would make 40k miles before dropping the first bar but since my daughter drives less now that she’s in college that almost certainly won’t happen. Still, we made 30k with all 12 bars which apparently was quite...

    2015: Battery Data Report @ 100% Charge

I haven't posted stats in a while since my daughter (the Leaf's primary driver) has been away at college this year. She's back for the weekend so we charged overnight and I checked stats this morning. Stats continue to drop on our now 3+ year old 2015 S. Looks like we are just about ready to...

Leasing a second leaf, can I get tax credit in Georgia?

Yes, and I am happy to pay it, since I use the roads but pay zero gas taxes to support infrastructure.

Leasing a second leaf, can I get tax credit in Georgia?

Georgia HAD a $5k tax credit, it was eliminated a few years ago. I believe the credit officially ended July 1, 2015 but am not 100% positive on that date. Regardless, the GA tax credit is no mas. The only benefit from the state right now is a free ride in the Peach Pass lanes around Atlanta and...

    2015: Battery Data Report @ 100% Charge

Well my 2015 S has finally dropped below 90% SOH. I was hoping to make it 3 years before that milestone and we got close, but here we are. Still pretty pleased with the way the battery is holding up (in Georgia) but only because we got such a sweet deal on the car with rebates and incentives...

Nissan "Out-of-Warranty" support for battery pack degradation

This is a great point, hadn't thought of it that way. I hope you are right and that eventually Nissan decides to simply lower the MSRP on replacement packs. My 2015 is doing well at ~ 8% capacity loss at 29k miles, so I expect to lose the first bar at ~ 40k miles and thus the second by 60k...

    Good-faith battery replacement

I think they are better in GA, which admittedly is not as hot as AZ. I have a 2015 (so the lizard battery) with almost 29k miles and still have all 12 bars. We frequently charge to 100%, no babying the battery.

    Battery temperature maxed out

Mine is at 6 right now. Unfortunately, that's the norm in August around here (Metro Atlanta). OP, sounds like you're in a hot environment as well. Best to avoid the QC on hot days as that heats things up even more. Also best to stay with your car if possible while you QC and get only what you...

    2015: Battery Data Report @ 100% Charge

Wow oilman, those stats look great. My guess would be that your SOH is higher than expected b/c the miles are relatively low for the age of the car. I'm no battery expert, just a guess. As far as how often you check, that depends on how much you want to obsess over it. :-) I check mine every...

LEAF 2 : What we know so far (2018 or later?)

NavyCuda, you will not win a debate with folks regarding AGW no matter what facts you throw at them. Just as they will not convince you that AGW is a real and present danger no matter how many scientific studies they throw at you. I would think it would be more productive for those on this forum...

    "New" 2015 eligible for FTC?

Ben, I would avoid this given the uncertainty. Drive down to Atlanta and take advantage of the $10k off deal on the 2017 Leaf now, plus you will definitely get the FTC. That's basically half off a brand new Leaf, and the 2017 has an extra 6 kWh of battery to boot! I love our 2015, but if we...

    2015: Battery Data Report @ 100% Charge

Thanks Dave. That's the average temp from Leaf Spy, so I'm assuming it is the battery temp (not the air temp) but don't really know over what period of time. As you said though, pretty hot. I'm guessing the battery temp in your neck of the woods doesn't typically get that high. :D

    2015: Battery Data Report @ 100% Charge

Took a reading last weekend on 6/18. Our Leaf is now 2 and 1/2 years old and going through it's third hot, Georgia summer. All things considered the battery is holding up well at 92% SOH. I bought the lease out in April b/c of the fairly ridiculous deal NMAC offered. As long as range holds...

Update on Nissan LEAF Battery Replacement

Thanks for the good summary JP, that is the current state of affairs as I understand it as well. My 2015 Leaf is in good shape and should provide me with years of reliable service yet, whether or not we decide to replace the battery at some point. While I really do like the Leaf, if Nissan...

Update on Nissan LEAF Battery Replacement

Now that we're back on topic, I have been wondering about the Nissan battery replacement program. It seems Brockman (I think that's his name) announced the original $5500 plus install price for replacement batteries almost 3 years ago now. Surely with battery costs falling every year that...

Ending tax credits would kill electric-car market, Edmunds says

Yes of course sales tanked in GA immediately after the credit was eliminated, as many sales were pulled forward into the first half of 2015 b/c everyone knew the credit was going away. But after a settlement period, sales in GA did begin to recover. EV sales in H2 of 2016 were better than H2 of...

    End of Lease Strategies?

Well I finally pulled the trigger this evening and bought the Leaf! A big thanks to Duncan C and all others who provided valuable input on the process. The dealership (Sutherlin Nissan) was a typical dealer, and tried to keep $2700 of the NMAC incentive until I called them on it. So glad we...

    2015: Battery Data Report @ 100% Charge

Don't think I have updated in a while. SOH is really starting to go downhill, at this rate I may lose my first bar before the end of 2017. Still thinking I will buy out the lease this year since NMAC is offering a rather good discount and the short range does work for us. 2015 Leaf S w/QC...
