Dealers "reset computers" on used Leafs: Does LeafSpy help?

Well, I bought it. Got it checked out by a dealer and it's a new battery, replaced last March! I have no idea why CarMax couldn't tell me that, but I'm pretty happy. Edit for typo.

Dealers "reset computers" on used Leafs: Does LeafSpy help?

    Ah, I see my mistake. It's 38%SOC, 37.4% Gids.

Dealers "reset computers" on used Leafs: Does LeafSpy help?

Thanks for the advice! I called, the guy I talked to could see that the car had been serviced but not what was done. I asked about the 3227 update and he said he didn't see it. So it sounds like a new battery is unlikely. mwalsh, thanks. I was going by what I was hearing from the dealerships...

Dealers "reset computers" on used Leafs: Does LeafSpy help?

It would be cool if the battery had been replaced, but if that were the case I would think CarMax would be using that as a selling point. The trouble with calling the dealer is I have no idea which dealer. There's no database, I'd have to find the individual dealer that did the service. I've...

Dealers "reset computers" on used Leafs: Does LeafSpy help?

Speaking of, has anyone made up a table of Gids vs. bars? There are several threads with data about the typical AHr range where a bar drop can be expected, but I haven't found something similar for Gids. But I'll keep looking.

Dealers "reset computers" on used Leafs: Does LeafSpy help?

Yeah, being non-sketchy is kind of their thing. But the fact that the pictures of the car on their website showed 9 bars while the car showed 12 bars in person set my alarm bells off, and now I have set my cynicism to full effect.

Dealers "reset computers" on used Leafs: Does LeafSpy help?

Huh. That makes me wonder if the whole, "oops, someone accidentally unplugged it overnight" is a ploy.

Dealers "reset computers" on used Leafs: Does LeafSpy help?

Hi all, Following the advice of several people on this board I got myself an OBD2 dongle and the LeafSpy Pro app before going out used-car-hunting, since it was pointed out that dealers could reset the computers on a used Leaf to make it appear that it has 12 bars of battery capacity on the dash...

    2011/12 SL with 10 bars vs. 2015 S... am I nuts?

mrringtone, did you happen to use LeafSpy or some such to see how many AHrs the battery had when you bought it? I'm likewise looking at a 2011 Leaf SL from Carmax, also for 11 grand. From the pictures online it looks like it has 9 bars left, and according to the sales rep I talked to the...

    2011/12 SL with 10 bars vs. 2015 S... am I nuts?

Re: Superchargers, good to know. My question came partly from "could I void the warranty doing this" and partly from "if I expand my search from San Antonio to Austin/Houston, will I need to have it delivered?" With the latter in mind, I was looking and it seems like there are adapters or...

    2011/12 SL with 10 bars vs. 2015 S... am I nuts?

Thanks for the responses! OBD wifi dongle is already being shipped to me. As for putting in a call to Nissan to verify if a given vehicle is covered by the capacity warranty, would that be the customer support line or would I have to take it to a dealer? And this is probably a dumb question...

    2011/12 SL with 10 bars vs. 2015 S... am I nuts?

Hi All, PaxEmilia here. It's about time to replace my old '97 Civic (OK, past time to replace it) and I really want to go EV for my next car. My friends have a Leaf and love it. I've been browsing what's available in my area. Buying a new SL or SV is more than I wanted to spend. I'm...
