We've updated our reliability stats for the LEAF to include owner experiences through June 30, 2016. Reliability information elsewhere is based on a survey conducted in April 2015--well over a year ago. Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year (lower is better)...

You're certainly welcome. I'm very grateful that so many LEAF owners have been helping. We've updated our reliability stats for the LEAF to include owner experiences through September 30, 2015. Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year: 2015 LEAF: 9, low 2013 LEAF...

Unfortunately, the Model S continues to require repairs much more often than the typical car. It looked like the 2015 would be much better, but it's not. Our reliability stats for the LEAF now cover the year ending June 30, 2015. (Others are over a year behind, and so report how these cars were...

Updated stats soon. Once again we'll have a healthy number of responses for the 2011, 2012, and 2013. The 2014 still isn't in the survey--but if five more owners join it will be added. The 2015 is in the survey, but as I'm typing this is three responses short of a decent sample size. In other...

I'd upload an image of the reliability trends but unlike other forums this one doesn't appear to enable this. Clearly they're incompetent (no, I don't really mean this). Breadcrumbs are the things near the top of the page that look like this: Repair Frequencies >> Nissan >> LEAF Direct link...

The 2014s won't be included in the survey until enough owners sign up. On batteries that have degraded but that haven't been repaired, if these are reported they can be posted to the site, they just won't count towards the stats.

There are only two "TrueDelta folks," my wife and I. Our time is limited. We cannot do everything we'd like to do, and must prioritize. This item is not a high priority for us because it has very little effect on anything except that some people apparently see us as incompetent as a result...

Tesla's issue don't reflect on BEVs in general. They most likely reflect the fact that Tesla is an all-new company producing an all-new car.

New stuff this time. We've updated our reliability stats for the LEAF to include owner experiences through the end of 2014. Plus we've added reliability trends graphs. These indicate how a model's reliability has changed as it has aged, and how different model years performed when the same age...

This was a short-lived bug. As for the nomenclature, it isn't always easy to find words that everyone will understand and that fully apply in every situation. For electric vehicles "engine" includes the entire power system, including the battery. The stats won't include many batteries because...

Thanks. We do ask about unrepaired problems when cars are sold. Auto-up seems to be the most likely function to fail in the window switches in many different cars. No idea why this particular bit is so fragile.

I hadn't realized that the assembly location changed. In this case, I find a change in suppliers and/or design/feature changes to be the most likely explanation. Assembly has little or no control over the types of problems being reported.

It is looking this way, which is odd for a car in its third model year. Any theories? We're not basing this on a lot of problem reports. But I see a couple reports each for three problems: difficulty charging, a power distribution module, and a click in the front axle. Any of these come up a...

Just because you see a repair description posted to the site doesn't mean we count it in our stats. To try to make the stats as objective as possible, we currently only count repair trips in which something was done beyond a free software update that made a problem go away. If you think one...
