No heat - troubleshooting, and a missing "under cover" below radiator area

Update ... Nissan does have the part... apparently I was to bring the car back in to make sure the repair was still good (??) and they never told me. The mechanic was like, yeah, we've got it right here with the screws and everything. D'oh!!

No heat - troubleshooting, and a missing "under cover" below radiator area

[UPDATE: Mechanic still has the missing "under cover", was left off for a reason, I will return to Nissan for a check-up...] Hopefully I can explain this one correctly, it's a long, sad story with a question at the end... We have been having trouble with no heat in the cabin of our 2013 Leaf...

Do I have a bum heater?

I'm replying to bump this thread. I have a 2013 SV with a PTC heater that appears to not be working. Can I assume that replacing the PTC heater is a BIG SCARY JOB that shouldn't be attempted by a DYI'er ?

Steel Rims vs. Alloy ... buying used wheels for winter tires

Thanks Jeff .. yeah we thought the rims make the car look a little tougher too, which is good since its whine isn't that intimiating  It'll fit right in here in the wintertime since so many people drive beaters. :)

Steel Rims vs. Alloy ... buying used wheels for winter tires

Thanks Brock. Closest I had found were some similar rims from an Altima over in Oshkosh, but I couldn't tell how rusty they were from the Craigslist photos  I'm running Blizzaks on the minivan and General Altimax on the old Toyota. Amazing what a difference a good snow tire will make...

Steel Rims vs. Alloy ... buying used wheels for winter tires

Hi Jeff, the rims were around $56 each, and the Hakkapeliittas were $110 each. Local tire shop fitted them for me. On our two other vehicles we've been swapping winter and summer tires (but I bought the winter wheels & tires used for both of those cars). Winter tires really help, and I like...

Steel Rims vs. Alloy ... buying used wheels for winter tires

Well I went with steel. Got the Nokians put on as well, will have to wait for some proper snow again to see how awesome they are. :)

Steel Rims vs. Alloy ... buying used wheels for winter tires

Hi Minnesota, Wisconsin here! Whelp I am ordering the tires... couldn't find any suitable rims locally so I'll just go with steel. Thanks for the tips on range & cold weather. Driver 1 does have charging at work, so she's fine. Driver 2 really doesn't but there is a Nissan dealer just up the...

Steel Rims vs. Alloy ... buying used wheels for winter tires

Oh, no worries, I appreciate the info. Driver 1 commute is at mostly highway speed (65 to 75). Driver 2 commute is 55mph for 50 to 60% of the way (if she doesn't speed...) so I'll bet that will be a factor to consider too.

Steel Rims vs. Alloy ... buying used wheels for winter tires

Thanks for the replies. :) Driver 1 has L1 charging available at the halfway point, and she uses it regularly, it has been very handy. Driver 2 doesn't really have charging available at her school, there is an L2 charger at Nissan that can be used in a pinch. We'll have to see how bad the...

Steel Rims vs. Alloy ... buying used wheels for winter tires

I've been shopping around for used rims / wheels for my 2013 Leaf for a set of winter snow tires. Having read here that a range of OEM Altima wheels (2002-2006 ?) will fit the Leaf, I've got a line on some used steel wheels for very reasonable price within a 90 minute drive. I also found a set...

Advice needed for a 2nd leaf

This. I scoffed at first at the L1 charging my wife has at work, but sitting there 6 to 8 hours, that's 24 to 32 miles of charge added. Has worked great for her, maybe your wife can convince them to help save the environment by letting her plug in?

Anyone else out there constantly shifting between modes

I don't constantly shift between modes, but use Eco / B primarily in town. (I rarely get to drive the Leaf on the highway... this is the wife's and daughter's commuter.) I think regular Eco / D on the highway makes more sense, so as not to lose too much speed when lifting off the accelerator...

Considering leaf - so many questions!

jjeff is referring to Cruise Control, which isn't standard on the S ... but might be on the 2016 and later ? I bought an SV for that reason. So far I like having it. Edit: According to this link (click specifications) Cruise Control was standard on all Leaf models in 2015...

Considering leaf - so many questions!

I just did 200 miles after buying mine. It was a hoot. Met some nice people though! Friendly folks charging their Tesla's at the Hy Vee, and two very nice folks let me charge at their L2 home chargers. Even cooked me dinner!

The official "I got my Leaf" thread

Thank you! I was looking for this info in the forums but had trouble re-locating it. Thanks also GRA... I have seen the charts and need to print one out.

Does cruise control really only come on the SV and SL trims?

Yeah I wish I had QC yesterday... LOL The Tesla guys I met were very friendly and happy to Supercharge at Hy Vee... I did notice at the two L2 stations I used with the 6.6 it was a lot faster, which I was grateful for.

The official "I got my Leaf" thread

Purchased my used 2013 SV this weekend (August 2013 build), 12 bars but SOH is at 86% so I'm thinking I'll be losing a bar soon. Has the 6.6kw charger but no quick charge, which should be fine for where we live... no QCs available. I (perhaps stupidly) drove it home the 200 miles, so let's...

Does cruise control really only come on the SV and SL trims?

Greetings all, just an update. I was able to find a 2013 SV with the 6.6kw (but not Quick Charge) within driving distance (ahem) so I bought it over the weekend. Cruise control was helpful on certain stretches of the trip home, and charged five times, two of which were 6.6kw stations, which was...
