    Rapid SOH loss since purchase.

I still don't know what happened in my case, but looking at my logs, I could have known that something was up the same day I bought it. The first drive was 60Ah, the next reading that same day (the drive home) was 58Ah... that's a huge drop for 2 hours of change. I didn't look at LeafSpy after...

    Rapid SOH loss since purchase.

Right, in my case I don't "know" that my BMS was reset, only that it is acting just like the BMS from the car that was reset. What additional testing can I do within leafspy to figure out what is going on? BTW: 55.75Ah SOH: 84% as of today.. the tanking continues. Interestingly, the uptick...

    Rapid SOH loss since purchase.

Do you mean for miles too? Unlikely, I saw the carfax report and everything looked good (except that it came from Georgia, like all off-lease cars seem to recently). -Jim

    Rapid SOH loss since purchase.

My car has 20500 miles on it now and it clearly had some manipulation of the Ah reading before I bought it. My curve looks very similar to the first part of AntronX's curve which means that I could have months of continual "virtual" degradation. Fortunately, if I follow the same path as...

    Rapid SOH loss since purchase.

Wow, this is enlightening. I went into purchasing a leaf with the belief that Leafspy would tell me the real state of the battery pack. That appears to be false. That's disappointing, I passed on a '15 to get my '14 when it appeared that the '14 had a better battery. It's fairly clear that the...

    Rapid SOH loss since purchase.

Down to 56.0Ah on the drive home tonight. I'm in free fall it seems. -Jim

    Rapid SOH loss since purchase.

When driving it home from the dealer, I did a QC from ~40%->80% on the 60 mile trip home. Other than that, I've averaged about 20 miles a day on weekdays where I charge every other day and 40-50 miles on weekends. Most charging has been done at L1, with a couple of L2 charges. I had one day...

    Rapid SOH loss since purchase.

AH=56.17 and Hx=83.52. I didn't take a screen shot while at the dealer so I don't know what these were two weeks ago. No bars dropped... Yet Edit: I just looked back through my leafspy logs. When I bought it on the 8th of March leafspy reported 60.08 Ah. The the next day was 58.6, 5 days...

    Rapid SOH loss since purchase.

I bought a used 2014 leaf a couple of weeks ago. I went to the dealer and used Leafspy to pick the car with the best battery. I found a 2014 that showed 92% SOH and was quite satisfied. I've since driven it about 600 miles and have been charging it at L1. Two days after buying it the SOH had...

    2014 Battery Stats

I've got a '14 with very similar battery stats (88% SOH with 21000 miles, 10/14 manufacture date). I find it very interesting that your battery has stayed so consistent over time, and seemed to have improved after having sat for a year unused. Thanks for the updates. -Jim

Best market for selling a used Leaf?

Trying to sell it in a particular location doesn't make much sense to me in the internet age. Work out shipping (it's easy) and post it on eBay for the world to compete for. -Jim

Crystal Ball? What's the future value of 2013 Leaf

I'd expect a large drop off post September '17 when the leaf 2 comes out with double the range. The car's won't actually be less useful, but the perception of a far lower range vehicle will hurt the resale price. I didn't buy my leaf expecting to sell it, I'll use it until it no longer meets my...

Buying used: Leaf Spy reports on 2 used 14's - thoughts?

To the OP: For me, I wouldn't buy either of those cars. The one with the freakin fantastic battery doesn't have QC, which is a must for me. The other has unusual battery degradation. You should be able to find a 14' with 90%+ SOH with QC for the same or less money if you have the time to be...

Buying used: Leaf Spy reports on 2 used 14's - thoughts?

Why do you say that? I'm not trying to argue, genuinely curious. The 14's have a better battery chemistry than previous models and a BMS that will mostly protect the batteries from intentional damage. I suppose you could intentionally run it past turtle mode, have it towed to a QC station...

Accessing high voltage on a leaf

Battery capacity warranty for the Leaf?

The warranty requires that you drop to 8 bars within 5 years. Given that your 2014 just lost it's first bar, you are unlikely to drop 3 more bars in 2 years. 1 bar drop happens, it was going to happen, it's just part of the battery ageing. I wouldn't worry about it and keep driving it just as...

    Please critique my Python

Looking good. I'm having a hard time getting my RPi to even read from my OBD2 reader (LeLink that works perfectly in LeafSpy). I've ordered another ELM327 module that hopefully will work better. I'm expecting to have a snow day tomorrow here, so it'll be a good opportunity for me to take a look...

    Hack the CANbus?

Thanks for the heads up. This is exactly what I was trying to hack together myself... I backed them and hope that it'll be a nice interface for the Leaf. -Jim

2011 LEAF Adventure Ended, What Now Until Tesla 3?

With your insurance settlement, I'd very highly suggest looking for a 13-14' with 20K miles or so. Use Leafspy to check out the battery's SOH before you buy. You'll then have a car that can make it through till the Model 3 release with no problem at all. Used, off lease, Leaf's are well kept...

    Alexa

I'm in the midst of doing this on my S right now. I don't have carwings so my plan is to use my Leafspy OBD2 BTLE adapter to connect to a Raspberry Pi-Zero-W that will then connect to a WiFi LTE hotspot out to AWS. I've got an Amazon AWS and Alexa developer account up and running, but not yet...
