Clicking noise during acceleration and decceleration

I just completed the repair for the Clicking Noise during acceleration and deceleration. Mine was clicking only on the left side. This was quite easy. I started with the front left. Jacked it up, remove the cotter pin, lock shield, washer, and nut. I noted the torque needed to remove the...

Leaf Brake Problem, pedal going to the floor

Yea, she got a giggle out of that too. No exaggeration. I measured it with a force gauge. A press of 40 pounds pushed the pedal to the floor, 30 pounds does not.

Leaf Brake Problem, pedal going to the floor

This morning I just remembered that there was someone the works a mile away with a leaf and I drove over there and asked her if I could feel her pedal. It does exactly like you said and exactly like mine. Press on it with car on or off and it firms up and then with about 40 pounds will travel...

Leaf Brake Problem, pedal going to the floor

That is interesting and I would like another comparison. Can someone else check and see if they can push the brake pedal all the way to the floor? Takes about 40 pounds after it firms up.

Leaf Brake Problem, pedal going to the floor

Hi, Thanks for replying. So you can press the pedal past initial resistance and then it takes about 40 sounds to press it all the way to the floor? Maybe nothing is wrong with my brakes.

Leaf Brake Problem, pedal going to the floor

Bled the brakes and changed fluid. No air in the lines. Same issue, pedal seems normal until pushed harder than 40 pounds and then it goes to the floor. I'm now thinking it is the master cylinder. It feels the same with car powered on or off. The brake master cylinder looks as if it can be...

Leaf Brake Problem, pedal going to the floor

2014 Leaf, 66k miles, no brake issues until now. Went to brake and noticed a slight more pedal movement without braking. More movement on the brake pedal and the car stopped. Then noticed that with additional force, the brake pedal went to the pedal stop. Turned off the master switch and on...

    Ascending mountains in the Leaf

Let's work this backwards and assume that the re-gen on the Leaf, or any other EV, is 100%. If so, then the distance travelled v/s the percent battery would be the same, but only assuming that one made a round trip and started and returned to the same point in elevation. And that is just about...

    Ascending mountains in the Leaf

Sorry that my first numbers were confusing and wrong. Here is the Google Earth actual distances. Total one way from house to trailhead 33.5 miles. So that is 67 miles and I rounded up to 70 because of a slightly different route, but it was not as much as I thought. So let's keep it at 68...

    Ascending mountains in the Leaf

Interesting. But note... it was 8 miles up and 8 miles down. In 8 miles we went from 22 to 38 % SoC. On the way down there were times when the re-gen meter was pegged at +30 kW.

    Ascending mountains in the Leaf

We have an SV with re-gen. I was comparing the battery percent, not the range which is computed based on what it expects on how you have been driving. That is why when we arrived at the trail at 4000 feet, it estimated the range at 8 miles. It was thinking... "if your going to drive some more...

    Ascending mountains in the Leaf

It appears from the data that losses due to regenerative charging is minimal, and it was charging all the way down the mountain. Most of the battery energy used to lift the car 4000 feet was returned to the battery on the way down, less the energy to move the car those miles as the loss in the...

2014 Leaf, lost battery bar #12, is this about right? Future battery health

Well that is all very interesting. We finally saw six bars yesterday after charging for 3 hours just after returning from a long drive testing out how the Leaf climbs mountains. Here is my other post regarding climbing mountains in the Leaf. http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=24136

    Ascending mountains in the Leaf

We conducted a test yesterday with our 2014 Leaf in the Olympic Mountains. We arrived at a point, the visitor center, where the road started to climb up with 74% battery. From that point we drove 16 miles and gained about 4000 feet and arrived at the trailhead with 22% battery and 8 miles...

2014 Leaf, lost battery bar #12, is this about right? Future battery health

When we bought the car in Feb 12, 2017, we only saw 4 temp bars on the battery, except 5 bars when charging on 40 amps in Port Townsend. We only have a 20 amp level two at home. Now that it has warmed up, for the last two months the battery temp has been on 5 bars, even when charging on 20...

2014 Leaf, lost battery bar #12, is this about right? Future battery health

Well that is a bit disappointing. I would have thought 1/12th per bar. We still show 100 mile range sometimes on 100%. We are going to start charging to 80% when possible. When we got the car, the dealer mechanic said just don't worry about charging it so we were charging to 100% all the time...

2014 Leaf, lost battery bar #12, is this about right? Future battery health

jamieo, Our 2014 Leaf is a few months younger than yours. That is great that you have all 12 bars. Can you describe how you have charged? What level? How often? At what SOC? We are going to start using the timer to try to stay within the 30% to 80% range most of the time when possible...

2014 Leaf, lost battery bar #12, is this about right? Future battery health

Yes, the in-car timer will work, but it is a bit cumbersome to use on a daily basis, especially when car use varies. Would LeafSpy be recommended or is there another method to monitor the battery? Also, has any one heard of a battery bar re-appearing by treating the battery nice?

2014 Leaf, lost battery bar #12, is this about right? Future battery health

Oops. Fixed it to 2014. The dealer check is free, first one. I do have the slight click when stopping, so I will get them to look at that. ntb12-055b So leaving it at 100% for a while is not good. OK, we'll address that. To bad the state of charge can't be limited like I heard the older...

2014 Leaf, lost battery bar #12, is this about right? Future battery health

This March, we purchased a used 2014 Leaf with 21,000 miles. This Leaf did not have the fast charging plug so it was only charged on Level 2 during its 21,000 miles before we bought it, and still only a Level 2 today. We use it almost every day driving about 30 miles on average and charge it...
