My ‘17 has it hidden behind the flip up faceplate. The ‘18 has one two but it’s just a slot at the top of the faceplate and not hidden underneath.

I beleive the solar panel has been discontinued for the 2018 model year. Too bad. It was kind of cool.

There actually aren't any aftermarket stereos with Carplay that are compatible with the Leaf -- at least according to the Crutchfield website.

Which is why Nissan needs to call it a day and just give everybody CarPlay.
