    What's considered high mileage?

Well - of course the younger car at 12k is a better option, what I am saying is that the 8k + 8.5k battery car is still a better option than pretty much anything else on the market in its class. It would likely be a significantly cheaper long term investment as well. Again, in comparison to...

    What's considered high mileage?

I kinda think some of the "cost for a new battery pack" math is a little fuzzy. I totally agree that we should see lower prices for replacement packs as the tech becomes more mainstream, and that the cost of replacement seems like a deliberate design for obsolescence, BUT i think if we are...

Odd LeafSpy Readings - Can someone explain this?

Hi all, so, i've had my Leaf for four weeks - a used '13 SL - over 54k miles but still at 12 bars. I have been running LeafSpy on it for about three weeks and the numbers seam pretty good for a '13 at this mileage - currently a tick over 87% SOH and just over 57 AHr. Which brings me to the weird...

Want a Leaf, what is the best option? First time EV buyer here.

As someone who literally just went through the exact same decision making process, i fully agree with alozzy - your commute is short, you have ample charging options - even if the battery degrades, it won't effect your commute. You may even find 14's available for even less which would further...

Deciding between two used Leafs (first EV)

Reddy, thanks for the vote of confidence - i am an architect who designs Passive House buildings exclusively, so it was really the only choice i could consciously make :D - unfortunately our rural location prohibits my family from going exclusively electric, but perhaps in the coming years that...

    Coldest Climates? What to expect...

Yes - that was my question. Do you just set the timers to both end when you want to leave to avoid drawing down the battery after the charge is complete?

    Coldest Climates? What to expect...

So I’m about two weeks in our used 2013 SL. Loving it so far, still at 12 bars and learning the experience of ownership and how topography effects performance to and from various destinations. But, what’s eating me up at night is the cold weather. Wondering who is operating a LEAF in the coldest...

Deciding between two used Leafs (first EV)

Jiv, I ended up paying around $9300 excluding dealer fees, etc. Oddly, even given the the upgraded trim package, it was the cheapest 12 bar Leaf i could find in my area. My guess is this was because of the mileage (i.e. inexperienced dealer pricing the car based on age and mileage and not...

    Master Warning Light

All - seams like it was the passenger seat belt (tho no one was in the car with me). I plugged in the seat belt (again, passenger side) and the MWL went off. Annoying, but there yah go.

    Master Warning Light

Ok - so I took the plunge on the 5/13 SL - loving my first three days! But.... The red master warning light came on...but, can’t find any other associated info in the maintenance minder or errors (the manual references the LCD display, nothing I can find there) car seems to be operating...

Deciding between two used Leafs (first EV)

All - thanks for the advice. 2014 SV wasn’t willing to come down from the 10.5k cost due to certification, so a no brainer since was able to secure the 13 SL for under 10k including fees/tax. On the way home I got this data... over another 25% SOC drop: 20.1 miles/4.0 miles/kWh - 94% - better...

Deciding between two used Leafs (first EV)

Just finished test drive on the 13 SL... Used 25% on the SOC 18.8 miles at 4.1m/kw Looking like the battery would calc to 18.3kw capacity...does this look decent for a vehicle this age? Also - one other question. Should I worry about QC twice in one day to get home from the dealer?

alozzy, For clarification, by “highway “ speeds, do you mean interstate-level speeds? Just trying to plan a route that fits the bill...

Deciding between two used Leafs (first EV)

Assuming I CANT get a OBD2 before we need to make this decision (don’t want to lose the chance at these vehicles)...is there any other clandestine ways of distilling real battery info while at a dealer?

Deciding between two used Leafs (first EV)

Everyone, thank you so much for all the good advice! Leaning toward the '13 mainly since it's cheaper, but really want to check the batteries... Decision time fast approaching - anyone know somewhere i could get a OBD 2 wifi (brick and mortar, not shipped as it takes too long to Maine even with...

Deciding between two used Leafs (first EV)

alozzy, Both offer the full range of options for charging... CHADEMO included. I am having the dealer (Nissan) with the 14 SV run battery diagnostics so i can compare readouts - i will bring LeafSpy with me to test the 13 SL at the Toyota dealer and compare - let that govern in the end i guess...

Deciding between two used Leafs (first EV)

Certification just allows certain repairs to be covered under an extended warrantee - i am realizing now that since these are virtually non-existent in an BEV anyway, there would be no point in paying extra. Where it has financially benefitted me in the past is on an exhaust issue and a fuel...

Deciding between two used Leafs (first EV)

Thanks powersurge, The 2013 SL is actually cheaper (listed at about $9500) - its a May 2013 build. The Certified 2013 is $10500, but as i have never owned a Nissan, was unaware of whether the Certification was actually effective (is good to know that it's not). We own a Certified PO VW as our...
