2018 Nissan Leaf does not charge at Eaton POW-R-STATION

The guy at my work in charge of the EVSEs told me last year that Eaton no longer will upgrade the EVSEs my work bought. They were around 8 years old at that point, so I don't know about the warranty status. But the solution is to replace them with different brands - Clipper Creek seems to be a...

2018 Nissan Leaf does not charge at Eaton POW-R-STATION

I feel your pain - I was in the same boat a year ago. A new EV driver doesn't understand all of the ins-and-outs of this stuff - a Level 2 charger should be a Level 2 charger! I would suggest trying to lobby your college to change out the EVSEs to newer units. There are grants out there for...

2018 Nissan Leaf does not charge at Eaton POW-R-STATION

Great that your n=1 experience is working out for you. Seems to me that the fact this thread and others, not to mention other sources on the web, points to incompatibility issues between 2018 and newer Leafs and Eaton charging stations. Incompatibility was apparently due to software changes...

2018 Nissan Leaf does not charge at Eaton POW-R-STATION

Not exactly a lemon. If you read through this thread you'll see that there's an incompatibility issue with Eaton EVSEs and 2018 and newer Leafs. The main problem seems to be that the Eaton EVSEs are no longer reveiving software updates because the manufacturer is no longer in the EVSE...

2018 Nissan Leaf does not charge at Eaton POW-R-STATION

Update: So on a whim last week, because I had recently noticed that all 4 chargers were working (one had been non-functional for years), I plugged in my 2018 Leaf and it charged without the fault icon activating! I was very happy and thought that perhaps the units (or my car) had received some...

2018 Nissan Leaf does not charge at Eaton POW-R-STATION

Eaton is out of the EVSE business and no longer supports the chargers, so there's nothing that can be done to upgrade them. Eventually, the chargers will be obsolete and replaced with a contemporary model, hopefully.

Nissan finally gets it with new 240V portable EVSE

Thanks for the responses. I understand outdoor plugs need to be GFCI and must be covered, per the National Electrical Code, which my local government enforces. My question was more about whether the EVSE (the entire unit that will be plugged into the outdoor RV plug, the cable, and the...

Nissan finally gets it with new 240V portable EVSE

I'm hoping some of the uber-knowledgeable people on this board can help me out with some advice/opinions. I recently purchased a 2018 Leaf SL which came with the portable 240v EVSE (along with the adapter to plug in to a regular 110v outlet). I am planning on having an "RV plug" (NEMA14-50)...

2013 S Not Charging at Some Stations

The workaround joewaters posted sometimes works successfully for me (2018 Leaf) on the Eaton EVSEs but at other times it makes the EVSE display the wrench icon or the car's dash lights do nothing. So it seems to be random on whether the hack will work, so hopefully don't get into a situation...

2018 Nissan Leaf does not charge at Eaton POW-R-STATION

Unfortunately, I have the same problem with my 2018 Leaf SL when attempting to use the Eaton Level 2 chargers at work. I continually get the "fault" icon coming up on the charger regardless of how many times I hit the reset button. I haven't had a problem with non-Eaton chargers. It's very...
