    Enphase field MTBF: M190: ~36 Years M215: ~316 Years M250: >357 Years

Looks like RegGuheert hasn't been here in a few years, so unlikely he will see this and update the spreadsheet. I have a really old Envoy (the white oval one) - last software build date is from 2020 - will they be doing the same thing there, do you know? Excellent news that the rate of...

    Chevrolet Bolt & Bolt EUV

It would be quite the firmware bug that allows cells to get so far out of balance to allow a cell to spontaneously combust. It would take charging the cell well above 4.2V. If the BMS was not reading a module's voltage properly, it would almost certainly have to trigger some sort of other error...

    Chevrolet Bolt & Bolt EUV

That seems unlikely to me - what is the max pack/cell voltage that GM charges to? Monitoring cell voltages and ensuring that bad things don't happen is the #1 job of the BMS - whether that's monitoring for high voltages during charging, or low voltages when discharging. I'm surprised that this...

    TSLA corporate outlook

Elon's quote which you posted above, flat out says not to expect significant profits for the foreseeable future. With over $8 billion in the bank, I would not be surprised to see negative quarters or even negative years going forward, until they stop investing capital into factories, service...

    TSLA corporate outlook

Tesla has not spent the vast sums of money you seem to think it has. Toyota could have easily spent the money if they had wanted to. But you are right that Toyota (and other manufacturers) have not been willing to take the risk. Tesla has been willing to risk it all - but the gamble has paid...

    TSLA corporate outlook

There are two manufacturers about 10 years ago that claimed to have this expertise in-house when launching the first "mass production" EV/PHEVs - Nissan and GM. Nissan had the foresight to realize they needed their own mass-production battery capacity - but lacked the knowledge needed to...

Early Adopter Mistake - Running on Empty

True. But today's best EVs have 60 kWh batteries for about the same price as the 2011-2015 LEAF with a 24 kWh battery. The 60 kWh battery even at end of life will have far more range than the original LEAF, so if you look at today's best EVs, we're probably doing just fine. How are the 30 and...

Those are peak ratings. Actual average power consumption will be far less. On the order of 10s of watts at normal listening levels. Or basically negligible.

    Chevrolet Bolt & Bolt EUV

Apparently there's $8500 customer cash discounts available for 2020 Bolts. Seems like a good deal?

    TSLA corporate outlook

It'll take a bit longer. But not much as they are targeting 2021 for first vehicle deliveries. Clearing the area for old munitions will slow things down, but the government appears to be very keen to show that they can compete with China so they are pulling out all the stops.

    Official Tesla Model 3 thread

I had a lightly modified 2003 WRX wagon before my LEAF as well. The Model 3 LR RWD is a far, far better car than the WRX. Though the sticker price is about twice as much, accounting for inflation the WRX costs about the same as the Model 3 SR+ RWD, but performs slightly better and is far more...

    Official Tesla Model 3 thread

To get this back on topic - govt subsidies for the Model 3 will be cut in half again in less than a month. Even after having gotten cut in half 5+ months ago, plenty are still selling thanks to Tesla's ability to scale production and reduce the price of the Model 3 (and S/X) more or less in step...

Mods for the Blink EVSE ! (was Fix)

Yes, that's the one you want. I had to replace the contactor on mine a while back as one of the contactor's contacts started overheating. PS - Anyone want to buy a Blink EVSE? Works perfectly now at 30A now that the contactor's been replaced and the handle doesn't show any signs of the...

    Official Tesla Model S thread

The Longest-Range Electric Vehicle Now Goes Even Farther 370 miles of range thanks to squeezing more efficiency out of the vehicle (same battery 100 kWh battery pack as before). Biggest change is that they are using the Model 3 rear motor up front in the S/X now, have updated lower rolling...
