Lost FM reception after replacing cracked windshield

Thanks for this info. Here in Colorado mountains we have a lot of small rocks on the road and I have had to replace the windshield on my 2019 LEAF twice with SafeLite, (and the other car too) and there is another small chip now... However, I have never had any problems with the electronics...

A thread for people happy with their Leaf

Similar for me when backing out of a blind spot, the LEAF slammed the brakes to stop the car even before the running pedestrian - A CHILD - was behind the car! Yes, I was backing slowly but there was still a good chance I could have hit her without the collision detection.

Considering a 2018 or a 2019 Leaf, but I'm concerned about my 96 mile round trip up and down a mountain.

I do not recommend it. See if you can find a LEAF Plus with a 200+ mile range. I have a similar profile trip to my son's house, 80 miles (160 miles round trip) with my 2019 LEAF Plus 62kWh battery, with the last 20 miles in the mountains. Even when starting with a range of 225 miles on the...

Putting in sun screen caused dead 12 V battery

I left my emergency blinker on as a warning to others when I was parked temporarily in a bad spot, drained the 12V in less than an hour. Used jumper cables from another vehicle for about 15 seconds to get the 12V battery up again and the connection to the main battery reestablished. No problems...

    53kw CATL Upgrade on 2013 Leaf S

Thanks for a great and complete posting. What was the cost? I was getting excited for a possible battery upgrade for my son's 2014 LEAF but as we live in Colorado the lack of a heater will be a problem. Any possible solution to that issue?

Key fob - low battery - replaced it, no go.

Interesting. I did a survey and listed over 90 WiFi, Bluetooth, infrared, radio, IOT connected devices in my home. Remember there are two devices for many signals, remotes for TVs, fans, etc. Most are not active at any given time, but many are in active 'listening' mode. The 2 cars and 4 fobs...

Amperage to charge for Level 2

When I ran 240V service for my 2019 LEAF the specs clearly said 50 amps. NEC recommends using 6 AWG copper and 4 AWG aluminum wires for cable distances of 100 feet or less. My run was about 60 ft. ICYMI - The NEC - National Electric Code, is a safety standard that describes safe electrical...

Amperage to charge for Level 2

My son's 2014 LEAF has only been charged with a 120V outlet. It has 85,000 miles and 95% battery. I think there is something to be said for the 'trickle charge' appoach. However, your proposal to use a 20 amp circuit breaker with a 30 amp load from the LEAF may cause some serious electrical...

    Long Term Leaf Storage

So ,when storing an ICE vehicle for months or years, typically you disconnect the 12-Volt battery. Is this not a good idea with an EV?

No, many available on Amazon or your local Autozone store.

    2023 dead at the airport.

I left my emergency flashers on and they drained the 12-V battery in less than an hour! Had to get a 'jump' to get going again. I always carry jumper cables ($15) and a 12-V battery tester ($20).

    2023 dead at the airport.

Just like with an ICE vehicle, always carry jumper cables ($15) and get a 12-V battery tester ($20) to check the battery strength occasionally and to see if the 12-V battery is the problem or something else. 😀

Battery Degradation of a high mileage Leaf

Do you have the link to that video? My son's 2014 LEAF has only been charged with 120V, sits outside - no garage, sometimes at subzero degree F, and at 90,000 miles has an amazingly strong battery. Seems to be the opposite of the Tesla advice.

How to get moving if your 12v battery is dead (ZE1)

The Weak Link The weak link in EVs is the same as in conventional vehicles: the “starter battery.” Without it, EVs are just as dead as a gasoline-powered car that won’t start in the cold. The starter battery, or more correctly the “accessory battery” powers all the car’s accessories, including...
