    2019 Nissan Leaf sv :)

Congratulations. First thing to do . . . pump up your tires to 40psi. It will improve handling, extend your range and reduce tire wear.

    2019 SL Plus

An electric motor has maximum torque at 0 rpm. An ICE engine has to bring several different actions together in order to get up to maximum torque. By that time the EV is across the intersection and down the street.

Is the CCS to CHADEMO adapter legitimate?

Agreed but I'd like to add a bit. Buying an EV is a new experience for many and they may not do their homework. They assume that an EV is just like an ICE but runs on electricity. The problem there is that many, if not most, car sales reps don't know any more about EVs than their customers...

How does phone communicate with charging station?

I had forgotten about all those gas cards. Time flies. Smart phones are so ubiquitous that users have lost their curiosity. Very few are looking for alternates.

    Noise

That sounds like the low speed warning required on EVs to warn blind people that there's a moving vehicle nearby. Check this:

How does phone communicate with charging station?

We usually charge our car at home. On occasion we need to charge when away from home. For that we use a Flo card which works well for Flo chargers and those of BC Hydro and a few others. If I had my way every roadside charger would be accessible by the Flo card. We don't have a full...

How does phone communicate with charging station?

How does phone communicate with charging station? Does it use cell tech, wifi, blue tooth or game share (whatever that is)? Whenever I search on the Net I just get ads or app promos. No one seems to know how it actually works.

    Interior length of 2018 SL

My 2023 measures a bit over eight feet from the hatch door to the radio. Folding down the seat I can carry an eight foot 2x4 stud laying on the central arm rest. To put something on the dash all the way to the back would require the back seat to be raised and you might get a nine foot object...

Is the CCS to CHADEMO adapter legitimate?

Nissan should be part of this too. If the car suffers an electronic failure there will be dealers who blame the adapter. My dream is Nissan CSS retrofit. Yeah, that won't happen. I can dream can't I ?

Any interest for a VSP-delete module?

The irony about this is that electric cars do make noises; mostly tires and motor. The problem is that the EX noises are drowned out by ICE vehicles. It seems to be impossible to get the ICE crowd to use decent mufflers so the push is to make EVs noiser.

2021+ dual VSP Speakers, sock mod

I used some rubber tape that is meant for outside use. It's about 1/8" thick and pretty sturdy. look for it in auto-parts stores. I cut off suitable size and placed it over the speaker. It served to dampen the noise in the cabin. One does not want to eliminate the noise completely...

2021+ dual VSP Speakers, sock mod

Through the gap in the front. Anyone with a skinny arm can reach. I'm not one of them so I used kitchen tongs. One would think that the backup speaker would be in the back.

    Drafting trucks on the highway…

A lifetime ago I worked with ambulances in a high crash area. We regularly extracted dead bodies from rear end collisions. It was obvious that tail gating is a serious risk. In a long line of hurried traffic tail gating compounds. For example, a driver should keep at least one car length...

    Another WSJ article

Yes, the 12 volt battery is a problem. The article seems to agree with Tesla's advocating a 48 volt system. How about electronics that aren't so fussy. Yeah, I'm dreaming. Tap 12 volts off the big battery?

A thread for people happy with their Leaf

Agreed. One of the things I like about our Leaf is the dearth of hi-tech gizmos.

    Key Fob Weirdness

I did the same a couple of years ago. The new Duracell did not work in the Leaf key fob but was sufficient enough for a digital tire pressure gauge. Different manufacturers tweak their designs for specific applications. The best batteries for key fobs seem to be Energizers. Buy batteries...

    Rattling noise when driving

Don't overlook what should be obvious. I remember a man spending a lot of time and trouble looking for the source of a noise which turned out to be a loose bottle rolling around in the trunk. In a leaf, the front passenger seat belt harness, when retracted, can produce a mild thumping...
