California needs to charge electric vehicles during day, not night, to save grid, study says

@Araknai This is the season for excess solar. Spring gets highest solar production, people need little heating or cooling, so negative pricing and curtailed production are common in spring in California. Summer has too much AC for much yet, fall has too little solar production, winter has both...

    REALLY!!! $200 gas tax.

Another complaint. States that have lots of visitors wouldn't collect as much relative to road wear as States sending lots of visitors.

Is the CCS to CHADEMO adapter legitimate?

A better dream would be the next generation of LEAF supports J3400.

traction battery drawing 1.5kw at 70mph while in neutral, less at slower speeds

Neutral is a command to the inverter, so no significant inductive spikes should be generated. The inverter is always turning phases of the motor on positive then off then on negative then off... A moving magnetic field in iron will cause "hysteresis losses" and "eddy current losses". As the...

    2023 Nissan EV Sales

Sage is correct. The charger is cooled to ambient, and the temperature rise can be substantial. Die temperatures of 70C are common. The battery pack would need active cooling to improve on the passive design as needs to be cooled far more. Sage's hate of all things Nissan gets old. As does his...

    USA CCS1 to ChaDeMo test…

UL approval is not simple or cheap. I'd guess that the supplier isn't interested. This is from a testing service: https://ulassistance.com/whitepapers/understanding-the-ul-ce-csa-certification-process "In a perfect situation, your product was designed for compliance to the applicable standards...

Why Have 2022 Used LEAFs Dropped by $10k in Price in the Past One Year?

As usual, nasty. Why is dual charging "stealing"? Some EVGO stations will charge on both cables at the same time. And bill both customers. I don't know about walking and chewing gum, however. https://www.evgo.com/blog/simultaneous-charging-less-equipment-more-happy-customers/ Why remove...

Is there a NACS to chadmo adapter out yet?

I doubt this is possible. The car doesn't talk directly to the Supercharger or to Tesla's payment network. You might be able to get an adapter that would pretend to be a car that was recognized by Tesla's network. This would either an adapter bought from Tesla, or would be based on the digital...

Is there a NACS to chadmo adapter out yet?

What if the batteries get discharged?

Is there a NACS to chadmo adapter out yet?

The battery is needed to start the charge. If the battery ever was too discharged to start a charge, then a DC to DC converter could never get the HV needed to recharge the battery. So some other means of charging the battery is needed. A DC to DC "vampire" would be useful especially with...

Is there a NACS to chadmo adapter out yet?

A battery is needed in the adapter. So how to charge the battery? USB. Can't do that over Bluetooth or WIFI.

Is there a NACS to chadmo adapter out yet?

Unlikely. And likely you don't really want one. Unless you like risky things. Oh, is possible. There is a CCS2 to Chademo adapter you can get from China. No clue if they have a CCS1 (North America) version yet, but that's mostly a connector change. J3400 (also known as NACS) to CCS is just a...

Good Bye Fast Free Charging & CHAdeMO & New Nissan EV ARYIA Nissan

You do realize you are replying to an old reply? The worst standard is two standards, if not three standards. I'm happy that we are down to one standard, J3400. The original Tesla charging was not CCS based. Tesla took the CCS protocol, as the EU required CCS2. So SAE J3400 is CCS over the...

Are there any future benefit to install a 240V/60A outlet for L2 Charger?

SAE J3400 does not have a neutral, so can only support charging at 240 Vac, and not V2H at 240Vac without an isolation transformer. Heat pump, induction stove, water heaters and such can add up to a lot of power.

Would you pay 10k for this?

My 2014 (sold to son) isn't worth $10k. Carvana sends me emails telling me about $2k. Which is about what I sold it to my son for (market price was 4x higher last year). Might get a slightly higher price on a private sale. Expect to pay slightly more to buy at a dealership. But still, no where...
