How many have changed brake pads? At what mileage? Record?

I have 112,000 miles on my 2012 SL, and my right rear brake is making a moaning noise, so I guess the time has come to replace the pads. I am down to 7 bars capacity and my regenerative braking has not been working for quite some time now. I can't complain, though. I had to put a lower...

    FM Autosets

My 2012 SL has the button on the left side of the steering wheel. It's labeled SOURCE. You push it to change mode (AM/FM1/FM2/XM) and flip it up or down to change stations.

    Should I Purchase Extended Warranty

This warrantee was designed by Nissan specifically for the Leaf, yet it includes flat tire changing with your good spare, and trip interruption coverage when you break down more than 100 miles from home.

    nissan leaf maintenance schedule

I have 52K miles and have spent $0 on Maintenance. Costco rotates the tires for free, I can blow out the cabin filter with compressed air, and I just don't get the need to replace the brake fluid so soon (I will monitor moisture content to be safe). I am counting tires and wiper blades as...

could we go 85 miles, mostly 65mph?

Short answer: Forget it. Longer answer: I drive from King of Prussia to Allentown every workday. This is a similar trip to the one you are proposing, and uses mostly the same roads. I can only do it if I stick to the rules: 1. No heat 2. Stay at 55 or under on the turnpike 3. 8 to 10 hours...

The maintenance manual goes up to 120,000 miles, and only mentions checking, not replacing the gearbox oil.

    Transmission coupling

After some further research I acknowledge that there is such a thing as a one-speed transmission, but I still think it sounds silly. So now I wonder, is the Leaf transmission a manual or an automatic?

some questions. what charger? what are these holes?

Other way around kw is the rate of power consumption, kwh is the amount A 40 watt bulb consumes 40 watthours per hour If you run your Leaf motor at 24 kw (by going about 65 mph) a fully charged battery will last 1 hour before being depleted.

Avoiding "overage" miles, convert 12k to 15k?

I did a little math based on my lease numbers back in 2012. My 15k mile/year lease cost $.11/mile for the extra 3k miles each year. My overage penalty was $.15/mile. Based on that, if you drive less than 14,200 miles per year, you are better off with the 12k mile/year lease. (.11 X 3000 / .15...

lost one bar of charge capacity

Time seems to be the most important factor after climate. I run it down to VLB every weekday, and charge to 100% every night. I lost my first bar after 28 months, but I had 42,000 miles.

    Transmission coupling

A transmission, by definition, must have the ability to vary the input/output shaft speed ratio. The Leaf does not have a transmission. I have heard the gearbox referred to as a "one-speed transmission", but that would be an oxymoron.

    auto Door lock disable

I am just curious why you want to disable this. Personally, I do not find it that inconvenient to unlock the door before jumping out of a moving car.

New member with loads of installation questions!

Sorry to go off topic for this thread, but this caught my eye. Here is my take: I gladly overdrive my lease miles. I save 8 cents a mile in cost of gas vs electricity driving the Leaf instead of my wife's Kia. That brings the cost of each extra mile to 7 cents. That is like buying a car for...

New, with many questions (read A LOT though first!)

As far as the battery goes, it appears that location is critical. I live in a moderate climate. I have 39k miles and 12 bars. Forget the 1200 mile trip. At best, it would be 6 grueling days IF there are chargers every 50 - 70 miles, which I doubt. I love my Leaf, but it is not for road...

    Expired leases

I wonder if it would be possible to work a deal with the dealer where I turn in the car at the end of the lease, and then buy it from them at fair market retail price. Everybody wins.

Looks like im going to exceed my 12k per year mileage

I thought of another way to look at the over mileage penalty that I think is more accurate and makes it sound even better. If you could lease an SL for nothing down and $150 per month 12,000 miles per year, that would be 15 cents per mile. That would be a spectacular deal.

Looks like im going to exceed my 12k per year mileage

You make an excellent point. My buyout after 3 years will be $16,800, and my over mileage penalty will be about $2,500. If the car is actually worth $14,300 retail at that time, I will consider buying it.
