    Now I'm getting nervous...

A quick aside about the Leaf cargo cover: unless you enjoy repeatedly bashing the bridge of your nose on surprisingly sharp surfaces, pick up a piece of pre-slit rigid plastic foam pipe wrap, and fasten it firmly (or it will work it's way off) to the rear edge of the cover.

    Now I'm getting nervous...

There are some 30kwh Leafs that seem to do just fine. That's the biggest Puzzle about them: that they are the only Nissan Leaf battery that ranges in longevity from " As bad as the 2011-2013 Canary Pack" to "As good as the 20115-2016 Lizard Pack"...

    12v battery replacement recommendations?

LeafSpy is actually showing you the DC-DC Converter voltage.

    Bargains on 2023 Leafs

To charge to less than 100% using a 'dumb' charging station, first determine how much charge (%) it adds per hour to your car. In our case, our 20AH Clipper Creek HCS-25 adds about 14% per hour to my '21 SV40, and 8% per hour to my housemate's SV+. Then, when you are about to shut the car off...

    Should I buy a 73k mile 2018 SL?

My last Winter at work I used a 12 volt heated blanket, wrapped around my legs and body from the waist down, to help me run low heat while driving home from work in the we hours. It really helped, and likely used less power than a heated vest, while keeping more of me warm.

    2018 Leaf Recall

My '21 is sitting at the shop, because the recall update Bricked it. It happened about 3 days after the 3Yr factory non-EV warranty ended...

I'm looking to purchase a used 2015 or 2016 Leaf, will it be worth it?

Read my used leaf buying guide before putting a deposit on (or buying outright) ANY used Gen 1 or Gen 1.5 Leaf. https://mynissanleaf.com/threads/things-you-really-need-to-know-when-shopping-for-a-used-leaf.26662/

    REALLY!!! $200 gas tax.

New York, while considered a Blue State, is actually "Purple." The Biggest cities are Blue, but the rural areas, along with many of the suburban areas are majority Red in their voting habits and beliefs. In the 21st Century, there are relatively few states that are solidly Red or Blue...

    Repeated ground faults from evse

"Made in China" doesn't mean one thing, anymore. From Big to Small: it can mean an American or EU Multinational making things in China using Chinese labor but the standards and practices of the corporation. There are also Chinese corporations that are as large, and that have somewhat similar...

    Repeated ground faults from evse

It's a known issue that Nissan's charging cables can't work with 208 volts. Many if not most aftermarket units can.

    $12k to replace 24kwh battery?

"If a place is selling battery packs that degrade after one year, they will not be around long and the reputation will soon be known. Even Nissan's replacements don't get the same warranty that the new cars do. If you buy a replacement pack from Nissan, you don't get another 8 year degradation...

A thread for people happy with their Leaf

Maybe we can all agree that while there are tests of a car's current battery state that are equal to or better than LeafSpy, the app is by far the best way to avoid cars with looming but currently invisible battery issues.

    Buying a 2019 SL Plus

If you want both a low charge rate and plenty of range, then I suggest you charge like the poster above, at 240 volts, 16 amps. You can get either an old stock 16A L-2 charging station for little money, or get an adjustable unit for more flexibility. A 16A charge would add roughly 8 miles of...

A thread for people happy with their Leaf

It might be useful to think of the following scenario before suggesting the removal of modern safety devices: what if everyone with a driver's license (and some without) were given not just the freedom, but the mandate to drive tractor-trailers? I suspect that the influx of dangerous...

    Drafting trucks on the highway…

I can remember, about 40 years ago (sadly, not an exaggeration), drafting semis at a distance of about 10-20', at highway speeds, on a mid-sized motorcycle, with a passenger. And yes, I was - barely - an adult. I really find it hard to believe how stupid I could be when I was young.

    When does cell balancing happen?

I'm afraid I don't know, and it may not be a single voltage - it may depend on other factors like temperature.

    Strange uneven tire wear

It seems to me that we have had quite a few people claim increased longevity with higher tire pressures. (I'm not a good test case, given the few miles I drive a year.) It would make sense, given that higher pressures make the tire more rigid, meaning less rubber-weakening flexing under braking...

Things You REALLY Need to Know When Shopping for a Used Leaf

The issue isn't specifically the ambient temperature, but is actually the temperature, over time, of the battery pack. For cars that get to cool off in cooler garages, or in locales that regularly get cool or even cold at night (as is common with desert locations), being out in extreme heat...

Three flashing blue lights, 3 beeps. Charging problem

"Yep - 3 flashing lights and 3 repeating beeps means only one thing: the car thinks you're holding the release button down." IIRC, this also warns of a failure to start charging because of a charge timer conflict.
