My charge port cover stopped latching closed a few months ago and would fly open when driving on the freeway. The dealership quoted me over $400 USD to replace some sort of module. After reading a speakev.com forum, I thought I'd try to examine the latch mechanism myself before committing to such an expensive and inconvenient solution. After removing a bunch of plastic push pins and 2 bolts, and unclipping one set of electronic control wiring, I had the entire latch mechanism removed in just a few minutes. I do NOT regularly work on cars and it was still a piece of cake. The whole mechanism was extremely dirty, so after cleaning with WD-40 and relubricating with white lithium grease, it was working like new again. It was the easiest >$400 I've ever saved. I hope no one else with this issue falls into this dealership money trap!
