There are several posts on connecting a ham radio to the battery. A friend and I found an easy way to get a #12 wire through the firewall without drilling or taking out the glovebox. This worked on a 2013 and 2016. It might work for other years.
Look at the photo. I pushed an opened hanger in the corner of this existing grommet. The trick is pushing in the corner at 45° downward and toward the floor. Change the angle until it goes through. It comes inside above the E-pedal. Tape the hanger to a wire inside and pull it through to the engine compartment.
Remove the front sides of the console sides and route the wire as needed. I connected the negative side from the radio to an existing chassis screw inside the console.
