I was close to leasing a Bolt Premiere in late 2017 because I too wanted the AVM. Ironically, it was the leather interior that made me hesitate long enough for the Leaf to become a candidate again (and for Nissan to screw me over by also bundling the AVM with leather seats in the SL). If I lived in an even warmer climate than here I'd definitely get the Bolt.

With the announcement that Cadillac is going to be GM's electric car brand, do you think that the Chevy Bolt will continue or get shifted to Cadillac?
"we can surmise a few things from the announcement.

The first is that GM has decided to follow the traditional development path for new and advanced automotive technologies, which historically have been launched in the most expensive brands and then filtered down to mass-market makes as costs fell."

https://www.greencarreports.com/new...to-lead-gms-next-electric-car-push-in-3-years

GM will build what is profitable. EVs easily produce the performance and quiet of a luxury brand, which are the most profitable segment for manufacturers.

The development cost of the Bolt is already covered, so I expect it will persist, as long as it can cover it’s build costs. I do not see it being part of Cadillac.

Someone in a FB group via screenshot pointed me to some big discounting on Bolts.

From clues in the screenshot, I found the dealer's page at https://www.martinchevrolet.com/inventory/New-Chevrolet-Bolt_EV/. Not sure how reputable the dealer is, but they are rather tempting given that GM still has the full tax credit (which supposedly will be cut in half on April 1, 2019 per https://insideevs.com/gm-federal-tax-credit-limit-200000-evs/).

If they are legit and I can't get a similar deal in the Bay Area, might actually be worth flying to LA and driving a Bolt back up.
Was pointed out to me at work that the prices at Martin Chevrolet are a bit deceptively low. Apparently, $1500 of the discount is if you're currently leasing a GM vehicle. I guess that's the "$1,500 - GM Lease Loyalty Towards Purchase Private Offer. Exp. 01/31/2019" that I see at https://www.martinchevrolet.com/inventory/New-2019-Chevrolet-Bolt_EV-Premier-1G1FZ6S04K4103149/ (for example).

BTW, what's a good/are good Bolt forums? I'm looking for something equivalent to MNL but for Bolts. Is http://www.mychevybolt.com/forum/ just as good as MNL?

It's just another forum on this site. Very similar, with some of the same people posting here and there. I got my login screwed up or I'd still visit there occasionally.

After doing some more digging and taking into account the above $1500 that I can't get, it seems like I can get comparable or slightly lower prices in the Bay Area.

https://www.chevroletoffremont.com/VehicleSearchResults?model=Bolt%20EV&sort=salePrice%7Casc is an example dealer.

I'm only interested in the Premier trim (only way to get Surround Vision, similar to Nissan AVM), infotainment package (for Bose stereo) and DC FC inlet. Seems like an acceptable color to me w/all that ends up being an openly advertised price of $38,510 (e.g. https://www.chevroletoffremont.com/VehicleDetails/new-2019-Chevrolet-Bolt_EV-5dr_Wgn_Premier-Fremont-CA/3336145903), but that car also has "driver confidence II" package. Not sure how much wiggle room there is right now and whether that's a decent price. I'm also completely unfamiliar with which Chevy dealers are good/bad.

If I jump ship to Bolt, it'll be before April 1st, when GM's tax credit should be going to 1/2. Could happen even by end of this month. I'd be selling my Leaf and my Prius.

I'm sure they decided this based upon the success of the sales of the ELR.
It never actually occurred to me before this announcement (who pays much attention to Cadillac nowadays?) but it may be that Tesla has been putting pressure on Cadillac sales. BMW and Mercedes sales have taken a hit in the USA from Tesla and it is quite likely that Cadillac sales have been affected as well.

GM has apparently decided that they can't compete in the luxury space unless they get serious about electric cars, especially in China. It remains to be seen if they can pull it off.

From https://media.gm.com/dld/content/Pages/news/us/en/2019/jan/0103-gmsales/_jcr_content/rightpar/sectioncontainer_0/par/download_0/file.res/Deliveries-Quarter-4-2018.pdf (right side of https://media.gm.com/media/us/en/gm/home.detail.html/content/Pages/news/us/en/2019/jan/0103-gmsales.html), not really. Cadillac sales for 2018 in the US were down only 1.1% from ~156.4K vehicles to ~154.7K

Supposed to be "nationwide" factory incentive for $7K. I would be surprised to see it NA in Bay area?

Hmm. Don't know why analysts think Cadillac is weak and may be the next division to get shut down. Perhaps GM is looking out toward sales in China, where EV sales are mandated? (Although my understanding is that Buick was the popular GM brand in China.)

On Saturday, I was at that dealership helping a friend with a ICEV warranty problem and noticed that basically the whole front display
lot had just Bolts, i.e. ~ 20+ vehicles. Every time I QC my Leaf at a Nissan dealer, I have to walk to the back lot to count how many Leafs
they have in stock. Rarely if ever, will one find a new Leaf/Leafs on display either in the showroom or on the front lot of a Nissan dealer.

Can you find me some pointers to this? Even a dealer listing of some Bolts showing this (can be in your state) would be helpful.

I haven't seen anything that big that's legit, yet. I’d seen another dealer that had low looking Bolt prices but that included the $1500 incentive for current GM lessees (like Martin) and another lame $500 off ONLY if you trade in a model year 2005 or newer car. No thanks.

At least 1/4 of the dealers inventory that I checked included that $1500 off GM lessee discount in their teaser price.

For the Premier trim and equipment level I'm interested in (well, also has driver confidence ii package), https://www.chevroletoffremont.com/VehicleDetails/new-2019-Chevrolet-Bolt_EV-5dr_Wgn_Premier-Fremont-CA/3336145903 is about the lowest I'm seeing openly advertised, with a "$5000 discount" --> $38,510, part of that is a $1000 GM incentive. That dealer didn't play games by subtracting another $1500 for the current GM lessee discount.

The dealer in the link is in CA, and CA has lots of "rebates" or "discounts" or whatever they call them. My guess is that's included in the sale price.

I have only have the link that someone Mike? provided on Seattle EVA page which I am sure is the one you referred to earlier.

I didn't find anything on Seattle EVA.

Felix over at https://www.facebook.com/groups/seattlenissanleaf/permalink/2280245908673500/?comment_id=2280254868672604&reply_comment_id=2281468325217925&comment_tracking=%7B%22tn%22%3A%22R%22%7D is asserting $6500 to $7000 discount but then pointed to Martin Chevrolet which has artificially low by $1500 prices because of the $1500 current GM lessee discount which I wouldn't be eligible for.

If your $7K reference is to that, in reality, it's $5K to $5.5K.

that sounds like it. I actually did use the link to configure a car and it still gave a very good price. With tax credit, its a great deal if a Bolt will work for you.
