IEVS:
Tesla Model 3 Mid Range Gets Official EPA Rating
https://insideevs.com/tesla-model-3-mid-range-official-epa-rating/
260 combined as expected, 270.1 city, 247.6 hwy.

Model 3 LR RWD is 310/324.1/292.8.

Model 3 LR AWD (both versions) is 310/320.2/297.2.

Also IEVS:
Tesla Model 3 RWD Versus An Icy Hill: Video
https://insideevs.com/tesla-model-3-rwd-versus-an-icy-hill-video/

. . . In this video I take the Model 3 RWD out in fresh snow in daylight hours and try to make it up a hill (index is below to jump to sections of interest). I do get briefly stuck. I am using winter tires. I didn’t intend to talk about the auto-wipers but in a moment of frustration, I have to rant about them. They unfortunately suck.

Up the hill: 1:10
Stuck: 1:48
Auto-wipers suck: 2:50
Auto-wipers rant: 3:25
Down the hill full breaking: 5:00

Re: sleeping 3 doesn't start charging on J1772

The bug: if you plug in a J1772 to the adapter when the car is not awake, it won't start charging. You have to wake the car (either via the app or by simply pressing a door handle) for the car to notice the J1772 is connected and then start charging.

When the first 3 showed up on campus, it didn't have this problem. Sometime around 2018.28 or so this bug showed up. All the 3s here now exhibit this behavior.

We have lots of shared EVSEs at work (2 spots per EVSE). Typically you pull in and leave your charge port open (inserting the J1772 adapter for a Tesla), and when the other car is done charging, someone plugs in your car (we have 100+ plug-ins on campus, so someone is always around to move a plug). So it's often that a 3 is sitting parked and not awake when someone plugs in a J1772.

Any idea if this bug is fixed and in what firmware version?

I also have noticed this w/various 3's at work which don't start charging when plugged into J1772 (we have LOTS of ChargePoint stations at work). And, sure enough, a tug on a door handle wakes up the car and it starts charging.

Unfortunately, some folks may have difficulties receiving some firmware updates (e.g. no wi-fi connectivity where they park) and thus could be way behind. I learned of someone here on MNL in that boat and he ends up having to burn up data on his wi-fi hotspot (with a cap/is metered) to update his 3.

Still a problem with the 10 or so 3s there are at my work. Everyone seems to be on some subversion of 2018.42 (my S included), so maybe it's fixed post that.
