Faraday Future's Big Reveal

Mon Jan 04, 2016 6:37 pm

Faraday Future is due to unveil it's secretive electric car project Monday night. I have to admit that I am pretty interested simply because of how hush-hush it is right now. You can find a link to the article below. I am curious what everyone thinks about this possible competitor to Tesla?

It's already been revealed that it's a 1000hp, 4 motor, all wheel drive bat mobile with two seats in tandem.

Single-seat, apparently. But with oxygen supply!

The entire presentation is not up, but some of the clips they played at the reveal is posted.

The "batmobile" is just a design concept that lets them show some of the possibilities of the platform. They had some good graphics on the presentation that showed how the platform can scale and it showed it as a Truck, SUV, CUV, Sedan, Hatch and sports car. It will be interesting to see what they show for the vehicle they intend to produce in two years (according to the presentation). The car on stage today is not intended to ever see production at this point, just a design concept.

Since I'm working CES, I wandered over for the reveal... Totally impractical of course but pretty cool looking and great showmanship on the presentation and technology platforms...

Wow, who was steering that ship? Some investors have some money to burn. Time to bring the Aptera back.

So it's a startup with a skateboard EV platform concept and no real viable product to sell or show except a concept car that is very niche at best. There is really nothing unique here only concept implementation for multiple EV configurations. It will be interesting when they have a real-world product and specs on range, drives and chemistries to be used in production vehicles. Seems like a me too follow on the Tesla model for the most part with no actual products yet. Every one is going to want to compete in the autonomous transportation market at all platform levels, commuting, corporate, delivery, fleet, etc.
