I'd never even heard of this company until I heard about http://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local/State-Tax-Breaks-for-EV-Firm-Promising-900-Bay-Area-Jobs-383365351.html on the news tonight, briefly.

I then found http://spectrum.ieee.org/cars-that-think/transportation/advanced-cars/meet-nextev-the-biggest-ev-startup-youve-never-heard-of.

“Nobody has ever done a global startup before, have they?” muses Martin Leach, co-president of NextEV, an EV startup that intends to launch an electric supercar later this year and a mainstream vehicle in 2017. Founded in late 2014, NextEV has its design headquarters in Munich, a software hub in San Jose, and most of its engineers in Shanghai.

Interesting -- their US CEO is a former CTO for Motorola (I worked there in a former life; seems like a generation ago and I guess it was!) ... she is called the "Queen of the Electric Car Biz" by Fortune magazine; BTW she drives a Tesla

http://www.thedrive.com/news/3561/nextev-to-unveil-a-ps1-million-1360-hp-electric-supercar-this-year

From the last link ... first model is a 1,360 HP Supercar? Not exactly something for the masses; came across this Google Maps image; looks like they have a building but front entrance is papered up so perhaps still moving in ... they've got lots of funding and a few high powered exec's but building a car company from scratch is tough ... just ask any that have faded away

I heard something on local radio about some EV company opening a large facility in Silicon Valley. Didn't catch the name. After some digging, it turned out to be NextEV.

The above mentioneds
Down the street from NextEV, is LeEco, another Chinese-backed company building electric vehicles. Another is Atieva, based in Menlo Park, Calif. Chinese auto parts company Wanxiang is restarting Fisker Automotive, building its electric Karma car.
I've seen LeEco's building. I and bunch of people at my work received mail from a headhunter trying to hire Android developers for LeEco.
