This pavement-yacht has a ride as smooth as a Pegasus' backside. Its such a massive and impressive land-yacht it requires the use of steering fluid that has been designed to leak out from underneath the car when it has been exhausted from the majestic work that it has done, released into the wild when the great Maxima when it has decided its time has come. This Maxima no longer needs to let the odometer tell it how far it has gone - it has chosen a path of greatness and valor and refuses to let silly numbers determine its life!

This is almost a year late, but Nissan made good on their promise of restoring it.

I had that generation Maxima. Actually, two of them: a '96 similar to the one in the ads, and when the lease was up I got an irresistible deal on a dealer-demo leftover '98 that was just under the threshold of being able to be registered new, which allowed me to take advantage of a $2k rebate from Nissan.

Those ads were funny.

Apparently, there were 2 followup videos to this, including one made by the original seller and "filmmaker".

Nissan fans said to "restore the Craigslist Maxima," and here it is

I don't remember this Camry-clone Maxima, but people calling it a "Land Yacht" have obviously never driven the yachts of the Sixties. Even a Buick Wildcat would make this car seem like a Corolla.

"Land yacht" could also refer to its sportiness, or lack thereof. Compared to the previous generation Maxima, aka "The Four Door Sports Car", this version didn't handle as well. Nissan had cheaped out on the suspension and substituted a twist-beam rear axle instead. By the time this car was finalized for production, Nissan was in serious financial trouble and would not exist today if it weren't for Renault and Carlos Ghosn.

It is a very comfortable long distance cruiser though. I drove mine from LA to the northern part of Vancouver Island, across Montana (back when they still had the "Reasonable and Prudent" official daytime speed limit), down to Vegas, and back home.

I owned a 1993 Maxima. It was the last year of the boxy body style. I purchased it in a private sale in 1995. It was one of the best cars and never had a single car repair the entire 3 years I owned it. Unfortunately in 1998 I totaled it. Amazingly, it held its value and I got back a little under what I paid for it. It was a great car.
