Actually, they have been out for a few years now and, so far, have proven to be very reliable.

Semis usually have 10, 13, 15, or 18 and accomplish this with a main transmission and a splitter gearbox, using split shifting. The clutch is usually only used to get the rig moving and when coming to a stop. Otherwise, shifting is accomplished by the floating method.

well some point I'll be puting a gear venders on my main towing truck, with a c6 slush box it is pain full! Really need some more gearing options! I like the idea of the ability to gear split and multiply.
