11 Billion e-miles and counting?

Thu Mar 23, 2017 7:05 pm

Just got an e-mail from Plugless studying the amount of e-miles driven in the U.S. Interesting reading.

Glad to be part of this. Assuming the alternative is a 30 mpg car on average (figure EV owners would tend to go for better than avg. MPG options), we have collectively trimmed 366m +/- gallons of gasoline consumption. :D

That's about 1 day's worth of consumption. But hey, you've got to start somewhere!

In 2016, about 143.37 billion gallons (or about 3.41 billion barrels1) of finished motor gasoline were consumed2 in the United States, a daily average of about 391.73 million gallons
