Not only am I LEAF obsessed, I'm also LED bulb obsessed. I figure a few others here might also be that way. So here's an Eath Day deal on LED bulbs a coworker told me about/ I like some of the dimmable Philips better, but $10, this looks to be a great dimmable soft white. I picked up a couple and they look good so far.

I saw this on the local news today. Also, Lowe's is giving away a desert palm tomorrow.

It's so cool! It's a Cardboard Palm/cycad which is a Prehistoric plant living during the time of the dinosaurs!
I found out that these dimmable bulbs won't work in my garage opener because the base (above the threads) is too big and you also can't use them in recessed fixtures. But for 10 bucks they're going to replace my cfls when they go out. They actually look much brighter than 40W. I bought 15.

I will have to check these out. We recently replaced our elevator bulbs with these 8 watt LED bulbs:

About the same brightness as the 14 CFL we were using (although a bit more directional), last 50,000 hours vs. 8,000 hours. Cost of $22 ends up being a bit cheaper than buying 6 of the CFL bulbs (to last a total of 48,000 hours). Very happy with them so far.
