Was it sitting for long plugged in but not charging? If so, you may have a very weak 12 volt battery. There are several topics on this issue. Try charging the 12 volt battery externally while it's still in the car, with the car off.

Look at some of the threads about brake system issues under problems and troubleshooting. I have had what you describe happen to my 2015 at least four times. I still had brakes, but they engaged abruptly when the pedal was pressed far enough. I have LEAF Spy Pro so I was able to read and clear the DTCs (diagnostic trouble codes) each time it happened. The DTCs were all related to CAN bus communication errors so it appears that something corrupted the communication between modules and left the ABS module, brake control module, and others in improper states. I had to clear DTCs, disconnect 12-volts battery for a minute, then clear DTCs again before the brakes and ABS/traction control systems would work normally. The situation happened after charging a couple of times and while parked at my office twice so far. My cases were not related to a weak 12-volts battery, but a weak battery can cause it.

I really feel that it is a lazy thing for people to post their potentially serious car problems on this site rather than pay the money to have a mechanic look at the car....

Do you really think that anyone on the entire site is actually going a) diagnose the problem (even the most experienced mechanic will not diagnose a problem until he SEES it)and b) the poster is going to be able to "fix" the problem by going on a cell phone app? NO...

Please do not post significant/ serious car problems to save $$$ from going to a mechanic....

Not to belabor the point, but what was the voltage of the 12 volt battery? If below 12.4 volts the accessories will still work but the car can throw codes.

That's fine. Not the 12 volt battery at fault.
