From a UK perspective, but interesting none-the-less:

CAP's Mark Norman told Fleet News: "The Leaf should have a shallower depreciation curve than conventional cars; the electric motor has fewer moving parts than an internal combustion engine so when mechanical issues and wear and tear begin to affect other cars, the Leaf should still be running well."

If they are doing a battery leasing there (I don't believe they are, are they?) then I would agree. But with the battery pack degradation and no known cost for pack replacement (we only have guesses right now), I would think that would negate the engine lasting longer.
 
What's the residual on a three year old laptop?

If the technology advances significantly in three years the Leaf is going to take a major hit.
