Financing a leaf lease buyout through a credit union

The Nissan dealer wants ~$8800 which is 8,000 off my residual amount. Theyou also want to charge a buyout fee. I have a 2013 SL w/ premium package with 42k miles. I spoke to the credit union regarding a loan for the $8800. They informed me they are able to do all the paperwork and I don't need to involve the dealer. This is great as it will save me some fees I think.

Has anyone gone this route recently and will NMAC still offer the residual buydown discount ($8k)if I buy it at the credit union instead of the dealer?

Would love to learn more about purchasing your Leased Leaf through your Credit Union or if this is a viable option.

In the past, you would take a certified Credit Union check for the pre-negotiated loan amount to the dealer to finalize the transaction for the used car.
