After more than 6 weeks of searching for a Nissan dealership that would negotiate a less than MSRP sale/delivery of the new Leaf, I found a responsive dealer in the Chico Nissan Hyundai dealership. Here is the confirming post I just got from them ...Since nobody yet has the actual INVOICE cost on the Leaf, I proposed to each solicited dealership "splitting the actual cost between MSRP and their invoice." While it is not certain that this is as much as the Fontana selling approach, it MIGHT even be better, since I have heard speculation that the Leaf could have as much as a $2200 differential and even with only $1000 this is still easier than having the vehicle shipped from Fontana to the Sacramento area. Give CHICO NISSAN a call as noted below. It is, by the way 97 miles from the dealership to my house in Sacramento and 74 miles from the dealership to Lincoln, CA. where there is a fast charging station....

Hello there! Thanks for getting in touch with us about the Leaf. I wanted to E-mail you and let you know that splitting the INV and MSRP will not be a problem on your purchase. Feel free to let anyone you know who is interested know that I will gladly honor this deal for them as well.

Feel free to contact me direct, or my EV Leader Ron Ricci, or our EV Specialist Antonio Leon if you have any questions.

Thx Again for the oppertunity Mr Parrott

According to what I found with a websearch, there is a charging point at the Thunder Valley Casino, I believe that is the one near Lincoln? We do have time before delivery to research this some more and to see if more charging points get installed along either 99 or/and I-5.

And I just got off the phone with the "lead Leaf salesman" at Chico; he called to confirm the order directly and to "say hello" to a fellow CSU, Chico Alum--he graduated in 1981 and I finished my B. A. there in 1965. Chico Nissan is VERY eager to SERVE new LEAF buyers, and our conversation only made that interest more clear.

George

Thanks, George.

I just spoke with one of the fellows in your post. They seem friendly and willing to do some business. You can't ask for more than that.

It's getting close. I can almost feel my IRA being depleted. At least it will be for something other than a "market adjustment" (Not the Volt kind).

Yes, TVC is between Rocklin and Lincoln. But that's the first I've heard about charging up there. If you have additional links/info you could post here or PM me ... Thanks.

What do you mean by "he called to confirm the order directly " ... did I miss an email to "Order NOW!" ??

No, by "confirm my order" I meant to highlight "confirm the agreement relative to cost WHEN the car is finally ordered..."

But THIS E-MAIL JUST ARRIVED from Nissan...so it is getting close:

Hi George, thanks for reserving your 100% electric Nissan LEAF™. We just wanted to let you know you'll be able to order your new Nissan LEAF in August 2010.

We'll send you an e-mail when it's time to work with a dealer to pick your car's color, review options and get a quote.

As you can imagine, the response for the Nissan LEAF has been tremendous. The Nissan LEAF order period will be staggered by state, and the timing of your reservation will hold your place.

As a result, orders from states with an infrastructure to support electric driving - either in place or planned - will be taken first. But no matter where you live, you'll be among the first in your area to get a LEAF.

Check the Coulomb Technologies website http://www.mychargepoint.net/find-stations.php. The Thunder Valley charging station appears to be a Level 1. Even if free this could be an expensive charge.

Order: Ok ... that makes sense; thanks.

You JUST NOW got that email ? Most everybody on this site receive their Order Month email on July 27. Amazing too, in particular, since you have an August Order Month !

Thanks for that ! A couple of weeks ago that TVC pin was not there ! So ... it's a Level 1 (120V but 16amps). Not fast, but it's something.

And by "expensive" I assume you mean ... too much money lost gambling while charging the car for free
