I got the following email today from Wilson Electric about coming sometime from this Saturday to Tuesday to do an assessment for the installation of the EV Project charger.

Hello,
This is Wilson Electric. ECOtality North America provided us with your name as a potential participant in the EV Project for the Nissan LEAF. Although you have already been approved for the project, we would like to complete an assessment of your home to double check information for the installation of the EVSE for your Nissan LEAF.

We would like to schedule a time to come to your home for an evaluation and complete an estimate.

Please call 602------- or email [email protected] with your available times. We will be in your area this Saturday through Tuesday of next week, so please contact us as soon as possible to schedule an appointment.

Thank you,

Wilson Electric

Has anyone else had Wilson Electric do an assessment? We have a pretty easy install: drill hole through brick wall, run about 12 feet of conduit along inside garage wall, connect wires to electric box on outside wall, and attach Blink charger.

How long will this assessment take? Any ideas?

They did an assessment on my home in Chandler several weeks ago. It took about 30 - 45 mins. Inspected the panel, measured voltages, asked where the charger will be mounted and estimated the installation job.

Wilson Electric coming today, Sept. 11, at noon to do assessment for EV Project charger install. I want no surprises. I'll post again after the meeting. They said it would only take 30 minutes.

I'll see if I can get any more info on the Blink charger from them.

Questions, anyone?

Had no assessment here at this point. In the EV project as of last month. Ordered my car on 8/31. In central Phoenix here. No email today?

Wilson Electric guy came and went today. Only took 20 minutes. He asked all the questions that I already answered on the online survey that I filled out on April 20. These were the questions about the house, existing appliances, wi-fi, smart phone, internet, etc. He took photos of the wall in the garage where we wanted the Blink charger, photos of the electric box, photos of the wall they will have to drill through. I showed him my "LEAF EV" personalized plate and he asked if he could take a photo of that to show his boss.

I had several questions about the Blink charger, but all he knew were the dimensions. I showed him the pdf printout from www.blinknetwork.com and he said, "Oh, is that what it looks like?" He had not even seen a photo of it!

He only had 5 assessments here in Tucson today, then drove back to Phoenix where he had one more in one of the southern suburbs. He said ours would be a very easy install. When they come to install in early December we can talk to them about installing a single 110v outlet also and they will do it, that is if they aren't going to charge us a lot.

The Blink, with the seperate cord-coil holder is HUGE.

Not really. The dimensions are 18" W (separate holder is 18" dia.), about 6" deep. Huge is a relative term, but the eTEC questionnaire had incorrect dimensions of 24" W, 18" deep. Now that's huge!

Ordered SL white and was contacted by Etec on Thursday and assessment on Friday. Pretty good service. We had a Leaf to sit in today. Nice. Tomorrow you can see the same Leaf at 8690 Balboa Ave SD, 92123. bpeachy Leaf specialist at Kearny Mesa Mossy Nissan.

Had my home assessment completed this morning (9/13) by SECON, Specified Electrical Contractors here in Phoenix.
Very quick and easy inspection. Basically looked at the panel, installation point in garage, and talked about the conduit run.
He also asked for cable modem & router info.

This assessment was scheduled (9/10) and completed (9/13) after the RFQ and order on (9/2).

I'm in the EV Project so I'm not sure if this assessment is any different than anyone else.

Cheers

I am approved for the EV Project. I had my assessment done on Friday, Sept 10.

Entire assessment took about 20 minutes. Asked where it would be located and then took some pictures of the location, the electrical panel, the panel with the enclosure removed and a couple of others.

The assessor had no idea about the equipment, only that it would be about 2 feet wide by 4 feet high by six inches deep.

There was a minor issue (the unit can not be less than 6 feet away from an operational fawcet. This caused me to move the chosen location about 4 feet closer to the panel.

Assessor was very, very nice and pleasant. I also believe the company was Wilson Electric.

It appears from his assessment that my free charger will be FREE!

By the way - The Blnk IS HUGH.

Like I said earlier, I showed our Wilson Electric assessor a couple printed pages about the Blink charger from their website and he said he had never seen a picture of it. It does seem big. I cut out some newsprint to the size on the spec sheet and taped it to the wall. The cable holder could definitely have been made smaller, but it can either be under the charger or next to it on the wall.

I asked if there is an option to have a cable longer than the 18 ft on the spec sheet and he didn't know, but would ask. Has anyone heard if 24 feet is available so another EV could be charged in the driveway? Also, I read somewhere here that having a designated 110v plug installed is a good idea but it should be 30 amp. I know nothing about electricity so this is all a foreign language.
