Sorry I missed your last post. Great to hear you got one. If your Leaf has the DC Quick Charge port the County installed a DC Quick Charger at the County Building located at 200 S. High Street in Wailuku, and you can get a fob from the Maui County Store located in the retail section at the Maui Mall (across from IHOP & Pizza Hut) for $20 and charging is currently free! :)

Yes. It's futuristic looking! I've already tried the L2 for free. I tried to get one today but work ended too late. 20$ is so expensive considering they cost a dollar.

But it's free to charge unless the County Council decides otherwise, so I think it's a fantastic deal. I think they decided to charge $20 just to help offset the costs a tiny bit. Kudos to the County for stepping up to the plate!

It looked like this is the Aeroviroment DCQC. Shouldn't it work with the normal AV fob? I already have that one from the West Coast Electric Highway.

I wouldn't be surprised if your fob worked with this charger.

It looks like the $20 fee is only a deposit, so if it's no longer needed it can be turned back in and get your $20 back.

That's great that some DCQC units are/will be installed there. I'm headed to Maui for two weeks next summer and have submitted a quote request from you Shaun. :)

I see on plug share that some of you in the Pukalani area have added yourselves. That's certainly useful! Too bad no one in Hana has. Do you know if there are spots along the way where a Quick-220 unit would be of use? I would likely bring mine along. Also, do you have UpgradedEVSEs, or should I bring that too?

For rental cars in general, it can be a drag to choose what size vehicle as I have to get my family, and our luggage, to the hotel. This often makes us up-size to a car/SUV larger than we need for the whole rest of the vacation of just driving people and swim gear around. Perhaps you could install one of my hitches and rent out platform racks to folks for their suitcases! (That's how I carry lots of stuff on my Leaf.) Or offer a suitcase delivery service!

Sent quote.

I don't know of anywhere on the road to Hana that you could charge with a 220 unit. We do not currently have an upgraded EVSE. There's a group from Japan that is supposed to install five DCQC's around Maui within the next year or so, including Hana and the park entrance to Haleakala, so that will be a big deal when it happens.

Depending on where you're staying we might be able to do a suitcase delivery for you?

If you go downhill on the highway you'll gain mileage anyways in ECO. It's a good amount of gliding.

Got the quote Shaun. At the moment my wife is saying we'll need an anti-Leaf; a 6+ person minivan to drive other family members around. We'll sort it out when the date gets closer. Keep us all posted on charge station progress!

Read this today and thought of this thread. Sounds like it would be an uphill battle to energize a populace on something like asking for more QC stations.

Actually, get 3 EV owners to vote Yes for more chargers and you might carry the vote.
