He said that Nissan sent them hundreds of extra chargers for some reason, and his supervisor told him at some point to just get rid of all the extras. He said they literally threw dozens of them away, along with extra key fobs. He held on to a few of them and has slowly sold them off over the last couple years. They were all like new, unlike the one that came with my car.
I know enough about the car business to know he wasn't making this stuff up.
He said that they even got a visit from some of the top brass from Nissan a few years back when the Leafs started coming off lease and they were being wholesaled for $8-10K. They had obviously misjudged the market for these cars.

His former boss told him to "get rid of all the extras" by selling them and putting the money is his pocket. Riiiight. They threw away dozens of items that the parts desk was selling for bucks. Riiight.

It's just conjecture on my part, but these things sure sound like stolen merch.

A nice clean cut younger couple in a nice suburban home with 3 kids. I should have seen through that right away. Obviously a front for a crime ring!

FTFY. There really is nothing implausible about this story.

Let the records show that I never mentioned anything about race or skin color!

Poor hygiene, poorly educated and a poor attitude I have come to expect. I am always pleasantly surprised when I don't find it.

Happens every day. A lot of theft is done by perfectly respectable-looking people taking stuff at work they think won't be missed or isn't "wanted".

Update. I have been in contact with Mark at EVSE upgrade. Third time is the charm and communications have been good this time. Wondering now if the emails were going to junk mail or not making out of our server. Anyway Mark has been giving me some things to think about. Now kinda leaning towards one of his EVSE's but would probably make sure it is the 20 amp. We'll figure it out.

For under $25 I converted my Nissan EVSE from 120V 12A to 240V 12A and have been using it for over 3 years without any problems. I know EVSEUpgrade can achieve 240V 16A on the original Nissan EVSE for $300 but this is much cheaper and works well for 1/10th the price.!!
