Can any of the owners comment on the Leaf stereo? Particularly, the memory slots -- are they SD slots? Most importantly, can I load an SD card with mp3's and play them?

The SD Card slots are for map data only.
One is occupied by the Nissan Map data card (included), and the other is empty.

They are not accessed for music.

I tried all different formats of cars, with no luck. Also, I believe they were not meant to be frequently accessed because the cover plate is unwieldy and would likely break with a few removal/insertions. Also, the slot is labeled "Map".

If you take the music SD card and put it in a cheap USB thumbdrive reader, you should be good to go on the USB port, though.

That sucks. I was hoping that I could load music into that thing one way or the other without a thumbdrive sticking out of it. I guess, I'll have to stick with my CDRWs. I hoped for a solid state music data read (with no moving parts). Getting the car in late Feb, BTW.

check out the size of these usb flash drives:

Yeah.. those are really cool! I think the USB drive is a great option. Easy to take in and out... can load it with music, podcasts, etc. The LEAF rocks!
