Yep, you're right. They forgot the cable. I live out of town, there isn't anything close to me. I think the closest was 24 miles. I doesn't help that they delivered it with 34 miles of charge either. I wasn't brave enough to risk it...

I am the new owner of a 2012 SL, with 28.000 miles and 80% SOH battery with 11 bars. $8800 out the door, and had to put new tires on it, but it is very clean. I bought it off a used car lot, and they knew nothing, I think they may have been a little relieved to get rid of the weirdo car. I was able to talk to the former owner, and he worked for the post office, and drove it back and forth to work and seemed to baby it. I thought I wanted a 2013 S, but there is a shortage in Chicago lately. When I first started looking there were a bunch of 2013's under 10K, but lately there have been zero, and I had to adjust my goals because I can only put so much crazy energy into this project. We bought the car about 25 miles from our house, and it wasn't charged, so we asked the salesmen to charge it and we would pick it up the next day. Well, of course, the charge timer was on so it didn't charge and they knew nothing about the override. When I got in and it wasn't charged, my husband was a little freaked, but we went to Walgreen's and found a level 2 that worked, but the level 3 was a mystery. Then I remembered that we could go to a Nissan dealer, and we did, and then it charged and I made it home!! So far, super happy, it's our second car so I can get to work, 30 miles RT, no sweat. Thanks for all of the help on this forum!

So sad update...I don't have a new leaf. Battery is only at 9 bars and car will not make it to work for me. I am having to return it. I went through Carvana, and I'm not really happy about all this.....

Maybe - Find out the inservice date (beginning of 5 year batt warranty)
Get LeafSpy and understand if you're "about" to lose that extra bar soon. You may be on the brink of losing bar 9, and get a brand new battery.

That's a bummer. Sorry it didn't work out. :(

Out of curiosity though, how did you determine that a used 2012 leaf was going to work for you (and then later not work)? From your post history there were no indications on what your needs were or what area you're in. A used leaf isn't a crapshoot or chance, but it's not a one-size-fits-all vehicle either.

New Leaf owner here! Brought home a 2017 Pearl White SV model. Very excited to own an electric car and hope that I never go back to driving an ICE vehicle again.

Solar panels and a level 2 EVSE are in the works.

Cheers

I got my Leaf on May 12th! Coincidentally on my birthday. It's a certified pre owned 2015 SV with 22,000 miles. It has all 12 bars and I don't know how to check SOH yet. I've been enjoying it a lot. I get free level 2 charging at work so it was an easy decision for me. Also, I'm happy to have found this forum. I've already learned about a few features thanks to members posts.

Just got my new Leaf yesterday! A 2017 SV in silver. I'm very happy with it so far, and looking forward to driving it for a long time!

The local power utility here in Ohio is offering a $10,000 rebate which, along with the $7,500 tax credit, basically cuts the cost of the car in half. I had been thinking about an EV for a while, and this was almost too good of a deal to pass up. Happy to join all of you!

I got my blue 2013 SV with 25K miles on Saturday June 3 from Carvana.com for $10250+tax/etc. I haven't plugged it into LeafSpy yet to get a full readout on the battery, but after charging overnight with the trickle-charger, the GOM read 75 miles. It is a later-2013 build (10/2013), so that helps. It's got the QC port and LED headlight package, which is nice, and on top of that it came with the premium sound/camera option (although Carvana didn't list this, it was obvious from the 360 view that the Bose box was in the hatch area--- so I think they may have overlooked this in pricing it. My gain!).

Overall I was happy with Carvana, although they definitely still have some learning to do about delivering electric vehicles-- thankfully they included the trickle charger (unlike the unfortunate poster above), but the car only had 16 miles of charge in it. I said to the guy that that's like delivering a gas car on "E"-- you just wouldn't *do* that! I'll definitely be giving them that feedback.

I'd been researching this purchase for months so I knew what to look for. I ruled out anything built before around mid-year 2013. I live near Chapel Hill NC and commute to Durham (about 16 miles one-way) so its perfect for my needs and hopefully will be for at least a few years.

Juliansleaf -- That's a real bummer about your Carvana experience-- honestly, you probably should have not accepted delivery on a car with only 9 bars, and especially without a charger! Glad you returned it and I hope you can find one that is better suited to your needs.

Anyone buying from Carvana, I suggest that you call the local office the day before your delivery and remind them to charge it. I wish you didn't have to, since they should do it automatically, but given my and Juliansleaf's experience, it seems like a good idea to be proactive.
