Just lost the 9th capacity bar on my '11

Wed Nov 15, 2017 8:13 pm

I just noticed that the 9th capacity bar has disappeared.
Early build 2011.
Odometer 36850.
Had held on to that damned 9th bar for over 16 months.
Thank you Ghosn, Palmer, et al.
Thank you P3227.
I can drive 60 miles on a "full" charge down in the valley under good conditions.
I still like the LEAF.
Would I pay for a new traction battery? No way! Not worth it for the added 20 miles or so.
Keep the info coming folks. Tell us how your battery is doing.

Curious minds want to know how are you getting 60 miles on 8 bars. A full 12 bar cycle should give about 81 miles. plus minus.

I'm averaging 6.6 miles per kilowatt and down to 7 bars ....I average 65-70 miles per charge now....I figure @ 6 bars it will be time to buy a new battery, the 3rd for the car ....I believe currently it will cost $6k for a new battery, but hoping for another price drop soon ....

FYP. It is miles per kWh, The dash display and nav system have it correct.

Mods: Can we please merge this with viewtopic.php?f=30&t=8802? We can't have everyone starting new threads after they lose their nth capacity bar. It would get out of hand very quickly.

If you get 60 miles on a full charge now with 8 bars, you would get a lot more than 20 miles more range with a new battery.
Around 60*(13/8 - 1) more.

Your mentioned range in a new battery PRESUMES about 3.7 miles a kWh. That result is very driver dependent, E.g. our LEAF lifetime consumption is 5.3 miles per kWh and I'm sure it varies from under 4 to over 6 depending on the season, etc.
